    Hi there,
I'm in South Africa and I was gifted a BB9900 Bold. The only problem is that its a "global" phone I'm told and I can't get my BIS activated. I'm using a Vodacom SIM card and I was told that because its a "global" phone, it uses a different operating system. Any assistance/help/advise would be greatly appreciated. I'd prefer not to use this BB as a paperweight.

A quick search on Vodacom South Africa shows they carry BlackBerry devices ( BBOS and BB10).
The BBOS devices , for example the Bold 9790 have similar specs to the 9900.

Therefore , your Bold should have no problem , as long as it's unlocked .
