Just wondering if maybe the Bold 9900 has the hardware for a "front face camera", because there is a noticeable opening (the size of a camera lens) just to the left of the LED flashing bulb's opening. And I know as with video camera back on my 8300. It was sold and announced to only have a camera, when all along there was video hardware, just didn't get the software update to use the feature until RIM decided to release it.

Like Dc said, proximity sensor so you don't face dial while on a call.

It only disables the touchscreen when you're on the phone and your face is touching it so it doesn't press any buttons.
