I purchased my Bold 9900 2 months ago and it's factory unlocked from UAE with English/Arabic keyboard. I live in Egypt and our networks only supports 3.75G and my mobile phone onlye receives 3G signal and at the same time my friends with their 9900s receive 4G signals. H+ thing. Can anyone help? Is there smthgn rng with the phone or is that normal?

My guess is the HSPA+ bands on the phone aren't the ones your carrier in Egypt uses.

I'd have to agree with Joe. My factory unlocked (straight from RIM) Blackberry get H+ in Canada on the Fido network. Unlock status should not determine the bands it receives.

It doesn't matter what symbol is showing on your phone.

The 9900 is an HSPA+ phone, and if your network supports those speeds... you will get them.

Only a few North American carriers have decided to change the symbol from 3G to H+ or 4G. The rest of the world are still getting the same speeds, but are just showing the standard 3G symbol.

It's nothing but a marketing gimmick... especially the 4G symbol
