Extended Battery Hippo 1600mAh & 2000mAh
- I was wondering, have anyone here in the forums ever tried the "extended battery hippo" ? I'm planning to get the 2000mAh JM-1 for my 9900.
If so, how is it?
do you need an extra backdoor?
how long does your 9900 last after installing this extended battery?

1, You will have 100% more battery life instead of 40% than with the above.
2, The JM1 is a genuine Blackberry item.
And 4, your Bold won't look like a monstrosity.05-20-12 01:54 AMLike 0 -
Yes I do have a spare JM-1 battery, however I prefer one battery instead of two, dont really like having two batteries two charge and that I need to keep swapping. Thanks anyways for the idea! appreciate it

I face the same scenario ap said. 2 batteries and both run out me breath by 4th or 6th hour of use.
More funny is that my friends with 9900 also go thru the same issue.
JM1 is a failure. We gotta admit that.
9900 deserves a better battery option.
Hope RIM provides atleast a battery that is similar to the JS1 (1450 mah) which is present in the cheapest Blackberry.
Until that happens, we would be forced to try other alternatives available as of now.05-20-12 09:47 AMLike 0 - There's absolutely nothing strange about it.

1450mah would still be low though for the 9900, rim needs to make a 2430mah battery for the 9900.

Something is wrong with your low battery phones. I lose 14% an hour streaming radio constantly for about 7ish hrs. Nothing is more taxing than that on a phone. I'm running os 9900/7.1.0.391 (B1310) and normal use like today. I plugged in with 68% after a 12hr day of medium use for me.

There's no app running in the background.. and i've always make sure i close the apps after im done using them.
Sent from my BlackBerry 9900 using Tapatalk05-21-12 03:37 AMLike 0 - Well I have an external slow charger (500 mAh, low-current type) that I have been using since I got it for my 9700. It makes sure my batteries are charged, both the stock and 3500 mAh extended ones. (I'm used to battery swapping) I wouldn't classify or call my blackberry a monster-sized one with the extended battery, or monstrosity, because I don't care what it looks like. Quite frankly, I like it thicker, it feels better that way.05-21-12 03:54 AMLike 0

Well.. I get 20-30 emails per day, I use twitter, facebook, kakaotalk, scoremobile, 1-3 sms, crackberry app, and I usually get 1-4 BBM messages per day, but I always close these apps after using em..

im using standard jm-1. and 3G all day, play fightin' words, use cb app 30 mins, BBM all day, 20-30 sms - 6-8 hours.
if i switch mine to 2G from time to time, limit my self in minimal surfing, BUT still bbm most of the day - 16-18 hours. if im lucky, can get 20 hours.05-21-12 05:24 AMLike 0 - either somethings wrong with your battery, or your unit.

wow.. really? I think it might be my unit.. or the battery itself.. I just ordered an extended battery hoping it'll solver everything, I'll make a review of this battery and who knows you may want an extended battery that actually works and last super long for all of those 9900 users out there.
Sent from my BlackBerry 9900 using Tapatalk05-21-12 06:53 AMLike 0 - I've been buying a spare battery for each of my last 3 BB's. It turns out I rarely ever need them. I change batteries just to give them some use.
I won't ever buy a spare battery in the future. It turns out I am never that far from a charger. I have chargers at home, car and office. As soon as I get in the car it goes on charger. When I'm going to be at my desk for sometime it goes on charger. At home I have a charger on my night table and sofa end table and the BB is on charger.05-21-12 07:29 AMLike 0 - Just to say, I've heard the non original batterys don't work with OS 7.1. Only OS 7 and below. Just to let u know. Also people talking about gold batterys with 2430mah, there good but RIM doesn't make 2430mah batterys because u need a bigger battery, the normal sized 2430mah isn't great as ur packing a lot of cells into small area05-21-12 08:16 AMLike 0

- Are you sure that it doesnt work on OS 7.1? if so.. crap. My friend is on OS 7.0 and he is using this extended battery, I see him everyday using it, seems to work perfectly fine. Sadly.. im on OS 7.1.. I hope it'll work when I get mine.
Sent from my BlackBerry 9900 using Tapatalk05-21-12 09:06 AMLike 0 - i dont know about the hippo battery, but the ecell ones, would not work for versions higher than .2xx05-21-12 09:15 AMLike 0

thank you for the info, how long does your bold 9900 last now after using the extended gold battery?
Sent from my BlackBerry 9900 using Tapatalk05-21-12 07:17 PMLike 0 - it can last 24 hours. I don't talk much on the phone, use it mostly for social/sms/bbm/email and lots of browsing. on 3g all day. The guy that made the last thread about extended batteries said it take 3-4 weeks for it to fully break in, so I'm hoping it gets even better.05-21-12 07:52 PMLike 0
