Hey all, so it's the same old story with this problem. I go to bed one night, plug in to charge for the night, set me alarm - and wake up an hour late with a red lit 9900 that alternates trying to boot (trackpad backlight pulses, but then red light comes back).

Pretty much the same story as everyone else I've read, but except I do a battery pull and it boots up fine. It's done this the last three nights in a row, and each morning comes back fine to last the day.

It shows about an 80% charge once it reboots so it's only partially through the charge cycle does it enter the red light mode. I need to plug it back in while I get ready to top off the charge.

Obviously this sucks, but it's also weird that the phone comes out of the stupor at all when everything I've read so far seems to indicate the phone is bricked when this happens.

Anyone else run into this? Any thoughts if this is a software or hardware problem? Would updating to .440 help this issue? I want to make sure before I return the phone as it usually takes about a month to get me a replacement.

Pretty disappointing after the need to return my torch multiple times for hardware issues.

If it were me, I'd do a backup /full device wipe and a fresh load of .440. Not that .440 is immune to this, but as long as you're upgrading, you might as well go to the latest leak. Can't say for sure, but I believe once that's done, you should be good to go. I would NOT just simply perform a straight upgrade, as that my not alleviate the problem.

Are you running any 3rd party applications?

Not a single one. Straight stock. Will try your suggestion.
