I have a 9930, and lately, the battery drain has been horrendous. 4% drain at idle, with about 12% drain with bbm and web browsing. Within the past hour, I've drained 36% with light app usage. I'm on 7.1.0.580. I recently reloaded the OS too. Also, I had a problem where the phone cut off completely, and the battery charging icon popped up on a black background. I couldn't turn the phone on for 2 hours. What is the issue here? Bad battery?

How old is your current battery? I would say from your description that you need a new battery...

I've had this battery for over a year now.I just thought that batteries would just completely fail once they need replacing. I can still charge it, but it takes about 3 hours to reach 100% from 10-20%. Then in a few hours, I'm down to 30% again. Thanks for the advice though!

My Bold JM-1 battery is a year old and is begining to not last as long as when new. I'm going to replace it with a stock Jm-1. May get a Sedio Vault also from crackberry
My experience has been batteries die fairly slowly like a flashlight for example , not dying all of the sudden. I use the battery saver @ 10% and set Screen brightness about 50

I would have your device analyzer monitor to see what is draining your battery. It will tell you exactly what your battery is being used for. Go to options, hold down alt and press bbda. And it will say activated. And then just start monitoring and see what's going on under the hood.

Also you might want to upgrade your OS. I was also using .580 and upgraded to .649 and .649 gave me much better battery life!! And now I just recently upgraded to .755 which is working well!

So just analyze and experiment with everything to get the best out of your battery and device.

Mine is draining even quicker, 100% to 0% in 1.5 hours, +/- 1 hour. My battery is about 1.5 years old, I ordered a new one off Amazon for $12, hopefully that fixes the problem, fingers crossed!

Just got the new battery today, threw it into the BB9900 and it's good as new . Got through the entire day without needing a charge at all! Go grab a $12 battery off amazon, it'll fix it right up.
