Just like that, all icons are missing.
Tried battery pull, show/hide icons, nothing is helping. Tried searching.
    Any suggestions?
    Thank you.

If you look in Home Screen options (Options in the menu on the home screen) you can set where you downloads go to. Make sure it's the "Downloads" folder.

When I go to options, it gives me "downloads folder". Then my options are
    home
    media
    instant messaging
    applications
    games

    thats it??

When I go to "manage panels" all are "checked" including "downloads".
???? I still cant get it.

Tried everything. So I just went into desktop manager, and did a "restore".
    All icons are back now.

Glad you got it all solved. Try to backup as much as you can.
So you can always restore it back to your latest settings/files etc.
