TBH, i dont like touch screens either, but on the 9900, its just awesome! i dotn have to worrk about typing errors as i have the qwerty for typing and the phone has soo much more functionality with the touchscreen. its really a perfect blend.
I also find myself accidentally touching the screen. It would be great if they implement an option to disable the touch screen in future OS releases. I really have no need/want for a touchscreen. Other than that I am very pleased with the phone.
I never scroll with the trackpad anymore. The combo of keyboard plus touchscreen i thought at first was unnecessary but now I can't live without it! It speeds everything up for me.
I also love the touchscreen. I even find myself trying to tap the screen on my old Bold 9650 when I go back to look for something on it!
I have an iPod Touch, iPad and had a Storm and Storm2 before the Bold 9650 (Only had the bold for 5-6 months, got it used). So, I LOVE touchscreens and I personally think it compliments the bold's keyboard beautifully. It also compliments the trackpad quite nicely.
I feel like a lot of people here just don't have much experience with touchscreens. I assume many are coming from a life of Bolds, not the Storm series, Torch series or Android/iOS devices. And I can personally see why those people would be annoyed by a touchscreen.
BUT, I'm a touchscreen fan! I absolutely love them I think its amazing on the Bold 99XX. It is extremely accurate, plus the screen is definitely big enough to have a usable touchscreen.
How could you make such a judgment? It tells me that you have never used a 9900 as if you had, you would not be calling it a joke. The combination works really well as most USERS have pointed out.
If you DO have a 9900 you need to change your user data and please tell me what makes it a joke?

Whoa, take it easy smart people. Touch screens are great if you're sitting in one place AND using your device with both hands AND concentrating. If you're on the go and need to get in and out quickly, the touch screen will absolutely slow you down and you will always have miss-touches. No single touchscreen phone can beat the speed and accuracy of bold 9800 (os5) in any task period.
So, ya, the comment is pretty valid.
I've had 4 droids and 2 iphones and I always came back to my 9800 because the touch screens wasted too much of my time when I was on the go.

LOOOOL "the touchscreen is a joke." To be honest, I love it !
At first I totally agreed. I picked up a Torch when it first came out and it felt totally useless. Why did I pay for a device where the touch screen feels so useless? The only thing it was useful for was navigating around the phone and what not.
To be honest, the functionity of the touch screen on my Bold 9900 isn't that much different, function wise. But the fact that I don't have to slide the screen up to access the keyboard and that the keyboard and screen are now flushed it just makes all the movements so much more fluid. I use the touchscreen all the time ! I picked up my girlfriend's Bold 9000 yesterday and I kept trying to navigate around by pressing the screen.
The only functionality I wish the phone had is tap-to-focus for the camera. It would make total sense since the phone has both a touch screen and a higher end camera.
