Title says it all..
Could someone with knowledge of how to do this (what apps are necessary, if it's not now and will be in the future, etc.) fill me in?
Thanks!

So, if Tether is my best option..I guess now I wait for it to go on ber-sale? Lol
Yeah.
It goes on sale a few times per year, I got mine for around 20 dollars during s CrackBerry Super sale. :)

Also if your service provider aka carrier allow free tethering, then the Download Manager from RIM can also be used to connect your phone to a computer as the network access modem. Look in to that because Telus told me my $50/month plan includes without any additional fees for tethering as long as I do not go over the data limit of 500 MBs.
Just do the QPST mod and tether for free.
Since nobody responded, I'll take a 'crack' at it.
I use my BB9900 with a 2011 MBA and/or 2010 MBP. Tethering is easy as long as your carrier allows it. Figure that one out first.
If your carrier does, do the following:
-Connect phone to computer via USB (no bluetooth so don't bother)
-Backup your device using desktop manager if you haven't do so already
-Open "network preferences"
-Click the "+" button
-The OS is pretty intelligent and should already have found your phone once you plugged in
-Once it detects the phone, go to "Advanced"
-Select "Research in Motion" for vendor
-Select "Blackberry IP Modem (GSM)" for model
-Hit "OK"
-Tick "show modem status in menu bar"
Done and done. When you need to connect, click not he phone logo on the menu bar and select connect blackberry bold. Heads up, you can't send/receive calls when you are connecting but will be able to do so once you are connected.
Again, your carrier has to allow tethering. And to state the obvious, you need a data plan. Hope that helps.
Those that got tether to work, what speeds are you getting?
Thanks for the detailed write-up..
Quick question..I'm on VZW - they allow tethering; however, I'm certainly not currently paying for it.
I'm assuming the way you suggested requires a paid tethering plan if you're on a carrier such as VZW that doesn't allow your 'unlimited' data to cover tether?
If so, my understanding of the Tether app is that it allows you to tether under the guise of simply using your smartphone's data? (Without having to pay my carrier for a separate tether plan)
Verizon doesn't allow tethering like that. Use the Tether app.
I read that Tether support sent a few people updated download packages for people using Lion on their Macs..anyone have it and could pass it along? Emailed support 24 hrs ago and haven't received a response yet.
Sorry! Can't help you with that. Here in Canada - tethering on Rogers is "free" as long as you have a 1 gig plan. You just need to inform they carrier so they can activate it on your plan - 'ask and ye shall receive' type of deal. Tethering uses up the data on your data plan so it all depends on what you've got.
Half-decent speeds actually. I'm not going to go around downloading a lot of crap, but reading the news, sports, crackberry...let's just say that I'm not going to go around doing something else to wait for the web-page to load. It's quite snappy. Now....if my signal sucks (no H+), then it's a lot slower.
i guess on a limited plan, the carrier might not care how you use it (although Im pretty sure some carriers here, such as VZW, charge separately anyway)..whereas, on an unlimited plan - they would certainly put forth an extra charge to stop people from being data hogs (just one of the many ways in which they do this)..
kind of *** backwards really.
Hello thankss I would try it sometime
Since you have both MBA and MBP which do you prefer ? The air. Or pro I. Have 2008 mba slow and outdaated so I wanna chose air or pro ? Which is more sexier ? The pro has a black bezel around the screen while the air doesn't have , which do you think its more beautiful ?

As much as I'm into aesthetics, function and portability are more important for me. I think the MBA accomplishes just that. But, I still keep the MBP for gaming!
QPST mod still work with Bold 9930 ?
I don't notice windows installed RIMM virtual port device
There is no way to read profile from QPST without virtual port
