No idea on actual sales numbers, but I considered the charging pod a necessity for every BB I've ever owned, not just a good extra to have. I would imagine many others feel the same.
yes include me in that. I've had one for last several BBs. I like setting it on charger and being able to grab it to check email or answer.

I didn't like the sideways one on the Storm 2 though, but didn't like Storm 2 either.

Beware of ordering from these people. I have placed two orders and both have been charged to my charge card and yet when you go and look at the status, both have a ERROR HOLD on the order.

If you call them you go right to India and they are clueless!

Does look nice. So if I understand correctly then I'd be looking at about $650 no contract price. Charging pod, BB and not including tax at 8%=$52 , so a little over $700 and it's all mine!
For a 40% faster processor(rim's words) and a .2" bigger screen. woo!hoo! Oh yeah, almost forgot the spanking brand new os7 which for some reason looks an awful lot like os6.

$2.17 a month for a charging dock over 2 years. Not too bad. I will bite the bullet, but only because of the one I got for the tour for $10. It is handy if you have never used one before. $39 would be a much nicer price point, but RIM does need money lol.

Sorry, from Blackberry. The show in stock I the best I can get from the India people is that they must not be in stock and that is why I am getting an error.

Ah. Yeah, I'm surprised that some of the 9900 items on Shop BlackBerry show as available to purchase. I'd be surprised if the orders went through before the 9900 actually shows up in retail.

Me too but when I saw that they indicated stock, I ordered. Oh well I got the CM Barely There case coming today but I am not fond of cases and not sure if I will use.

Just out of interest's sake, for those of you who think it's RIM making $40-$50 on these things - here's what those of us who are registered resellers can get it for through distribution:

    List Price Your Price
    $54.99 $22.21

So if you have a problem with the price, I'd talk to your local retailer and see if they'll come down a little closer to cost for you

I've had my Curve 8330 now for two years. The USB port is no different today than it was when I first got it. I'm not much of an accessory person anyway. The only thing I would consider getting is an international wall charger.

What's up with the new charging pods? Can that even hold the phone properly? At least the old ones had some kind of back support..

I feel like if I sneeze in the direction of the phone it'll fall off.

Anyone know if they're going to make the older style charging pods? Similar to what I had for my 9000 and 9650? Or just the new ones? I wanna get a charging pod but I'm not sure if I like the new smaller square ones.

I saw mobile city has one of the older ones on preorder but I'm not sure if that's just a photoshop and that blackberry has actually done away with them.

I would not expect RIM to develop anything but the current design for the charging pod for the 9900. Have they ever offered alternate charging pods for one specific device?

That's what I thought, but then I saw this: BlackBerry Charging Pod for BlackBerry Bold Touch 9900 / 9930 at MobileCityOnline.com

Looks like they have one on preorder? Not sure if that's either non-OEM or photoshopped but will eventually come, or photoshopped and doesn't exist.

Just purchased two from Crackberry.com, with discounts the price for each was $29.71, I used a 15% off coupon that can be found anywhere and orders over $50 get free shipping....Now I have one for the home and one for the office....This is a must have as you can just plop your phone in the pod without having to fumble with a cord....BTW I love my VZW 9930...Long Live RIM

I went to my local store this afternoon to get screen protectors. Just for the heck of it asked if they had them. Two employees were standing there. One said no, just for the 9650 because the phone isn't released yet. Told him I got mine earlier. The other guy told him that even tho the phones aren't in yet, accessories are.

When he went to ring up the screen protectors ($12.99 for a pack of 3) and the charging pod ($29.99) he told me that I would get 20% off for buying 2 accessories. I said maybe I'd get a second charging pod (keep 1 in 2 diff places in my house now). He said if I bought 3 things I'd get 25% off.

Ended up paying $9.94 for the screen protectors and $22.49 for each of the two pods.

If anyone is in NJ, this is the store:

That looks like a mistake to me. The only charging pod available on Shop BlackBerry is the new flat-style charging pod. Since that's RIM's online store, well...

Now, will the old style work? I have no idea. Without the phone in hand, I can only guess that the charging contacts have been moved to a different location as compared to the 9000, so my guess is no, the old pod will not work with the 99xx.
