I'm using a 9930 here in the philippines. my 9930 (from verizon) is an open line. Im using a SMART sim with BES activated but I can't get any Data signal (3G w/ B Logo/EDGE/GPRS). But when I swap a Globe activated BIS in my 99300 the BIS is working.

My cuz told me it might be the Smart network over Verizon originated BB's. Even my mom's smart can't get a data signal my phone.

take note that I can still txt/call using the sim, but without the data. How can I resolve this?

when using a sim, don't you need to setup your carrier APN settings for the network you are using? I could be wrong though...

May be it is locked to use for other network.
you can try international roaming feature..
    or..
email verizon and see what they have to say.
    ..
