its a pretty sick phone, but im not sure if i should wait it out til the newer hardware comes out. Im not familiar with RIM's past release schedules, but i remember getting the 9700 and then a little while later hearing about a 9780. So i guess ive got 2 questions; is it worth upgrading from a os5.something 9700? & based on previous releases, any guess on when the new 99xx might release?

I was in Verizon yesterday playing on the 9930, freaking amazing. Currently I'm a at&t customer but that may be changing soon lol

Just buy it, there will probably be no upgrade to the 9900/9930 anyway because RIM will focus on QNX phones

That does not mean that you should wait for the QNX smartphones tho, simply because... If you're considering buying the 9900/9930 then you probably want a physical keyboard phone, and the first QNX phone will be a full-touchscreen-phone, so i'd say buy the 9900/9930 and just observe and see if you like the direction where RIM is going with their QNX smartphones in the near future

If you like your 9700 im sure you (and i) will both love the 9900/9930, it'll take some time till the first QNX physical keyboard phone gets released

And when it finally gets released you'll have to see if QNX is COMPLETELY different on a phone than BB OS, or if they managed to implement all the awesome and nice features from BB OS into QNX

My advice: just buy it !

buy it! coming from a 8330, then tour 9630, then bold 9650 all on sprint...im in love with my 9930...simply the best ever! i believe i can keep this thing for a long time....fyi...i wanted this phone so bad i paid full price in sprint store...i decided to save my big upgrade for 2012 or 2013 to check out next QNX phone...but for now ill be happy and satisfied with my 9930 right into 2012 and beyond.....

Yeah, I paid full price for this one and have a NE2 upgrade next April and this will hold me over until then. I'm tempted with the iPhone5 coming out, but we'll see. If I wait until next April, I expect the QNX phones will be out and then I can decide between the Iphone5 and the next Gen RIM devices.
