Pretty cool. Model VM-605 and the call quality is crystal clear when I called someone.

Now can someone tell me what the "FM" button is for?Buddy gave me this (never had one B4)-imageuploadedbycb-forums1459630307.527330.jpg

and why would I need an FM button? Like I said I dont know what its use is for because I never had one of these things before and it worked good for a call to someone.

ok someone told me I can use it, say.....with an iphone to play songs from itunes. You press the FM button then it tells you what FM channel to set to on the car's radio and then somehow you can play songs.

Yep, FM transmits over car stereo. Great when you need more volume. Also very nice to stream, or media player, music, etc. FM fidelity isn't so great but automatically silences media when calls come in.

Just be aware that the FM transmitter isn't secure. The car next to yours can hear your caller if that neighboring car stereo happens to be tuned to the same FM freq.

Thanks, I just wish I could somehow transfer my itunes songs from the iphone to my 9900 because I don't have a PC anymore (don't miss them really) but I now have an excuse to carry the iphone to the car

ok so I was using it with my iphone just to play music for a couple days, worked great, but now I want to turn off the FM and just use it with the Blackberry for calls if I am driving but I cannot seem to shut off the FM (where it recommends a FM channel to set your radio to for playing music). ie. I want to go back to using it seperately from the car speakers.

I want to go back to playing a cd or normal am/fm radio and have it work independantly of this....

figured it out, just press and hold the FM button to turn off or on, pretty sweet device.

I should mention that I never got any instructions with it, just learning as I go

NOTE: after playing a song from itunes you cannot go back and play it again, you can only Fast Foreward to select the next song/s

Ok so yesterday I was trying to connect Spotify via iPhone and it worked at first but then today I noticed that the channel they suggested jumped from 88.5 to 88.7 and my question earlier would have been “how to I set it back to 88.5” because on that channel there was no cross contamination from other radio stations, but I figured it out, I forgot the volume buttons on the side of the 605 doubles as a manual channel selector.

Cool device! Still use mine. Yes, volume keys double as FM "channel" changers... Something you get used to when travelling from region to region... Lol. Great for older vehicles lacking built in BT or direct connection. I used a "wired cassette" in my F350 until its tape drive started squeeling and quit. Time for a new stereo but no time yet. Lol. Good old VM605 does the job thru FM.

NOW I remember why I started playing or streaming ALL the time... The FM xmtr shuts down after some period of non-use... Nice for preserving battery endurance. This thing must be approaching 10 trs old and built in batt still holds up admirably! BUT, I use mine while powered from vehicle and find the FM shut off unnecessarily disruptive. SOoo... I keep audio playing or streaming (Tune-in, etc) over the FM and then unexpected calls silence the audio and direct over FM. Great excuse to listen to music, etc... Lol.

Also hard to beat BIS efficiency for audio streaming... I run Tune-in ALL the time and NEVER see 1GB per month on it. Wish I could claim the same on my non-BIS stuff!

I did a 7 hour drive for Christmas and the car sits in sub freezing temperatures and the Blackberry VM605 hasn’t had to be charged yet since December 17. Batteries should be preserved better in cool climates (why people keep AA’s in the refrigerator, but as we know here, car batteries lose a lot of power the colder it gets so we try to stuff the biggest CCA rated battery you can cram onto the battery tray.
