I currently have a BB Torch with quite a long time left on my contract. I really like the look of the new bold, I went to buy a bold in the first place! But I was swayed by the touch screen on the torch. So I am thinking of letting my girlfriend have this contract and taking out a new one with the 9900. Is it worth it?
    Thanks.

I came from a 9800. I love the keyboard on the 9900. No regrets on making the switch here.

I love the 99xx over the new Torch (touch) devices.

I had the old torch and the combination of touch & a physical kb is awesome. I would have picked the 9810 if the 99xx wasn't available. The kb on the 99xx series is the best in the game, IMO.

I realized you really have to try out a phone for about a week until you know for sure.....fwiw. I tried an iphone 4 pre-9930 release, it was back in < 1 day!

I had the same decision to make 3 weeks ago, and I picked 9930 on sprint. I am glad I did.

I think the power of BB software is in its shortcuts and integration with hard keypad, and on the Torch, that keyboard is hidden below the screen. That means that you have to slide it away to use it.

Having used Bold for 3 weeks, I can't see how I would have liked the Torch.

    Cheers!!

Only regret you will have is if you don't pick one up, at least to try it out. Best phone I've had, and I've had a lot.

BOLD BOLD BOLD! I tried the torch for 2 weeks and HATED IT. It takes longer to text or do anything on the phone. You ahve to touch the screen to do everything even dial a number. You have to touch it sometimes 3 times just to get to the speed dial. Way to long to do things and the touch screen is very touchy. I found I made more mistakes typing on it which took even longer. I hate that phone! I need a keyboard.

Bold all the way and this is coming from a storm 1 & 2 user. I had both of those and I was really happy with them until I got a 9650. BB OS is meant for a keyboard and track pad/ball. It makes doing things on a full touch BB so much slower than a kb BB.

Hmm, seeing as this is a 9900/9930 forum my guess is that the majority of people would tell you to get the Torch

I had the 9810 for 3 weeks, then made the switch to the Bold and haven't had any regrets. I was happy with the Torch, performance wise it is the same, but the form factor and keyboard on the Bold won me over. I am glad I was able to use them both.

I agree, the 9900 is just great for me.
But the Torch 9800 and the Torch 9860 are different, if the question is about 9860 Blackberry i would suggest it to any landscape phone user.

Back in the day, I had a Bold 9000 -- the original best keyboard ever -- and moved to the 9800 last year. I had been anxiously awaiting what became the 9900 for some time. However, I decided to upgrade to the 9810 rather than choose the 9900. The 9900 has a better keyboard, but it's not like the keyboard on the 9810 is awful -- just not as commodious as the one on the 9900. Primarily, however, I had accustomed myself to the full touchscreen experience on the Torch. I can use my 9810 as a regular touchscreen device, flipping it back and forth into portrait and landscape modes, or as a more traditional BB by sliding the keyboard open. For me, it's the best of both worlds, and I don't regret it for an instant.

Also, FWIW, the camera on the 9900 is a flat-out embarrassment because of its dime store EDoF lens. The camera on the 9810, which has auto focus, blows it out of the water.

i have a curve 8530. i thought the torch 9860 with its full touch screen would be no problem for me because i also have a playbook. WRONG! i purchased the 9860 on Saturday and HATED it. it went back on Sunday. for me i lost a lot of the efficiency that BB offers for phone functions with not having a keyboard. i would have purchased the bold yesterday -- but everywhere i went was sold out and its even sold out online at Sprint. RATS! dont want to but guess i will have to buy it from Amazon.

*sigh* I went to the shop to buy it yesterday and o2 declined me for it! So we tryed Vodafone but there system went down so I had to go back today and there system went down AGAIN! and then when it finally came back up the ****ers declined me! I wouldn't mind If I had debts of some sort but I don't! Not one late payment ever! So no Bold 9900 for me not at the moment anyway. I'll have to see what orange say when they get the phone as I already have a contract with them. *sigh* I had it in my hand!

Loved my Torch 9800 when i had it but must say the flipping of the screen was a bit annoying and the weight distribution didn't feel right with the screen up but if you cant live without a big touchscreen or coming from android then perhaps 9810 would be the way to go, best of both worlds.

If you've used the 9000 in the past and liked it your will LOVE the 9900
