Hi folks,
I have been using an old Bold 9000 for some time - without BIS - and I plan to buy a 9900. My main concern is that I need an integrated email client which works seemless with the other applications on the phone - i.e beeing recognized as THE or an email client using POP or IMAP. Without BIS I could not set up the native email client and I currently use LogicMain. It works OK, but not seemless. Is there a way around this? Or is there a way I set up the native e-mail client to work with POP and IMAP without BIS or BES under OS7?
BB is meant for BES that's why so many businesses still use it. Without BES It loose its only edge software wise. Then you're only left with the keyboard. Without BES I would have given up BB for now.
I have BIS and rarely use that email directly and prefer to use Logicmail most of the time
due to it being a direct connection between my phone and provider.
But there is no further integration of the email applications.
I used a Curve 8900 for a long time without data. Wifi at school/home and the keyboard was great for texting. I have data now, but I don't think it's necessary to have it.

That was before RIM closed the loopholes.
A BB data plan is essential now on newer devices, even for wifi use.

I've used my 9700 without BIS for 2+ years. Works great for what I need. Phone, text, e-mail (via Gmail app), "gps" (via Google maps), and browsing for everything else. All I'm missing out on is BBM and getting Apps... but I've gone this 2+ years without them and I'm just fine.

I am using 9900 without BIS right now. I am getting it in January though. It's a hit and miss. Gmail app works. Whatsapp. IM+. that's pretty much it. Websites do not load correctly (Linkedin for example, it loads in some kind of HTML ugly version).
