Ive been using android since the hero i am a big fan of the platform but ive never used a blackberry my whole life and am always drawn to e beautiful hardware of the bold. Now that the z10 is out the 9900 is finally selling for only 200 dollars and i am extremely tempted to buy myself one just to play around lol. Do you think id just frustrate myself and just skip it or is it worth the time and effort to give it a shot ? Im using a note2 right now btw
I'd say go for it. For $200, you definitely won't regret it. It's indeed a nice piece of hardware and coming from a all touch device, you'll love texting on the Bold.

Im more interested in finding out what its like using a bb day to day. Im not heavy on the emails and dont plan on using bbm. Im not into games and apps except for productivity. How would bb users compare android jelly beans fluidity of navigating the os and getting things done w bb?
The 9900 is a good devicel but why pay $200 for a phone that is using tehnology that is 2 years(ish) old. You have held out this long, why not wait until the Q10? And if you have never used the phone why not go to a retailer that has a demo version of the phone and go play with it. Nothing says you have to purchase it from them, doesn't even have to be your carrier. Just go test it out, then you wouldn't have to throw any $$ on sometning you haven't ever used.
Because the 9900 with the latest 7.1 OS works like a charm.
BB10 is in it's infancy and I would guess will not be a well rounded OS for a number of months just as OS7 took some time to have all the bugs ironed out.
Why pay an arm and a leg just to be a Beta Tester for BB10 !!!
If you're used to Android I think you might be frustrated with the 9900 unless you really just need a communication device (e.g., emails, texts). Browsing is okay but not great. Not really many apps to speak of.
BB10 handles games very well, and if there's one thing that Blackberry World has impressed me with it's the number of great games available. Sure there aren't nearly as many as the android market but there are more then enough really great games to keep you entertained.
I can't say much about the BB9900 only because i've never owned one.
Seeing as the z10 isn't even released in some places the 99 series is the best BB on the market.... So yeah lol its still a good buy.
What do you use your android for? If you're really into games, apps, and camera... It may be a hard transition. Unless you're going to buy the BB as a second device alongside your android.
For $200, I'd say it's worth it. The BB is a great communication device and super fast with its push service.
I think you might be disappointed with the smaller screen, I had a photon Q and the Bold screen is much smaller. If you're not interested in email, I'd assume that means you don't mind (or maybe even like!) the touch screen typing. Add that with not wanting to use bbm and there may be no reason for you to make the switch.
What you must understand is BB is not nancy boy's phone.............. it's a device made to cater needs of certain category of people.......... it's someting like if you 10 years old, why do you need a shaving razor....... ......... BB9900 requires BIS to work...... $200 is cheap but still..... .......... atleast use it once in life..... it's an experience..... ....
all BB's are somewhat similar... it's like all androids are similar...same grid icons, same swipe from up for settings, most of people even don't know about differences in versions..... BB9900 is an experience...... its not fancy...its not best of best... and you can yell about it's greatness... but..... if you are guy who needs things done.... BB is right choice.... it does few things..... but does it very well...... it's top in whatever it is made for..... ...... i would recomend you buy one and experience it..... ...you can always sell it if you don't like....
I picked up my 3 month old 9900 for $200.00 in absolute MINT shape you can thank the Z10 for sure a year ago the 9780 used was going for $200.00 Canadian.mt works great...
As a BB fanboy I think the 9900/9930 is actually overpriced. Two years ago I switched from the 9650 to Android, but several months ago I couldn't help myself and switched back to BB, this time upgrading to a 9930. I purchased a fairly new one on Ebay for about $250. It was overpriced in my opinion. For a phone that doesn't provide much access of any kind to decent apps, I'd prefer to pay $150 or less. (You can get a 9650 for <$100, but IMHO it is too laggy.)
I'm really not talking about silly Auto-Tune type apps. Standard business apps are what I am looking for. Skype. Offline news readers like Readability or Pocket. Banking apps that allow online check depositing. Offline skydrive sync like Dropbox or Google Drive. Just the basics. But BB doesn't even have these. In the end I decided that having access to a good keyboard for texting and composing emails is more important, but I will probably end up upgrading to the Q10 when it is available.
I love the 9900 and would definitely pick it up for the price of $200. Best device running OS7. I have the note but always kept my 9900 with me all the time! (can't pass up that keyboard...best of the best)
for that price its good just to put in a drawer in case you need a phone on a rainy day
