    Hi,

I just got my bold 9900 (woohoo!), and I'm one of those people who likes to crank up the brightness to 100%. I just feel like my Bold 9900 pales into comparison with my 9780 when it comes to brightness.. Is there a certain setting I should activate ??

This is my comparison with the 9780 brightness wise..

    9900 @ 100% = 9780 @ 60%

Take the setting auto brightness off if its checked. My 9930 is really bright and its only set to 70%!

You mean auto dimming ? It is off.

Guys I'm having another problem now.. I backed up my BBM contacts from my 9780 on a .con.rem file....I can't seem to restore them now. Everytime I choose the file, I get a message saying "Contact List Recovery failed. Please try again later."....What's up with that ?!

I would have to agree, but where I notice it most is in the keypad backlighting. Seems weak compared to the 9800 or even other earlier models (9780 is brilliant, for example).

I would deff say it's going to vary from device to device! I had both my 9700 and 9930 right next to each other and my 9930 is whiter and brighter in both screen brightness, and keyboard brightness.

a .con.rem file? What's that? DM backup is .ipd and then you simply select what you want to restore.

    BBM-(11-08-20).con.rem

this was the name of the backup file the device created when I chose backup from the options menu in the BBM app.

EDIT: I did not backup BBM on DM....Stupid move I know. But I used the same method to transfer my contacts from my 8900 to my 9780, which was through "Backup" on BBM's option menu.

My screen is really bright white but I thought the keys don't seem as bright as my 9700. I can't compare it because I sold it but I believe the keys were much brighter.

Do you guys notice a big difference in keyboard backlighting brightness? If everyone does then I suppose it is normal i.e. it's just built that way and I don't have a bad unit.

I think the wallpaper that comes as default is a bit gloomy and that's why it wasn't really being all that bright. When I try on the leaf wallpaper, the screen gets quite bright. Also, the unit I received simply has a mind blowing keyboard, so I'm not willing to exchange my unit!

Probably a lot of variation in manufacturing quality going on here, as with all Blackberries.

Wow, this is a little interesting... I'm coming from the Tour 9630 and had my display set to 10, the lowest because that was the most visible/bearable to me. With the 9930 it was set to 10 as well since I used the backup from the 9630 and even at 10 it's a bit too bright! I thought at first it was set to high, but was surprised when I went to change it and it was at 10!

There is not much difference between the 10 and 100 brightness setting.

I have a small question. How can I make my dedicated email icon (The one with my email written on it) appear on the menu without having to dig it up using universal search ?(when I type in my email, it comes up as a result with the icon having lower opacity than other icons)
