My company Bold 9900 has just been sent away for repair. The letter 'c' became so sensitive to the touch that just grazing it would be enough to register the hit. For me, this is my second Bold 9900. The first one had the spacebar issue where a single hit sometimes registered two hits.

What has been your Bold 9900 keyboard experience?

Mine isn't as great as I had hoped. I've had mine replaced several times during the last year due to keys not working.

I am very happy with it. I came from an 8130, so the fact that every letter has its own key on the 9900 is great. So far I haven't had any problems with it either.

Even though my Bold 9900 is away for repair, I am told we are switching carriers within the next month or two. The Bold 9900 is the phone being provided, unless I request for something else. I am a little scared to go the way of the Bold 9900 again. The replacement phone I have been using is the Curve 9300, and I really like the size. It fits better in my hand and I really don't mind the keyboard. I am considering the Curve 9360 with the new carrier instead. The touchscreen has become less important to me over the months of 9900 ownership. Am I crazy for wanting to 'downgrade' from the Bold to the Curve?

My Bold 9930 is a tough device and I have been very happy with it overall. It has performed perfectly. I like the mock up of the Bold 10 looks like 9930 beefed up!

No issues with the various 9900 keyboards I have used. Could be a bad batch? idk. If both work devices were bought at the same time from the same supplier.

I love the keyboard and have no issues with it. I don't think you're crazy for wanting to switch or downgrade. You like what you like.

The build quality is poor on the kb but the 9900 is still fantastic. Kb replacement is easy, cheap and fast if you want to diy.

Not at all. Not crazy one tiny bit. I had a 9370 when I had my 9930 and I loved it.

I am on my second 9930 and keyboard has been flawless on each. Initial device had software issues that was fixed but VZW sent me a new one anyways... device screen was sensitive to dark light. So I kept the replacement due to the fact that the screen sensitivity was just fine.

Experienced when you pressed the space it creates a dot. Changed to a new keyboard, and so far everything's perfectly fine!

The letter V is temperamental, as is the space bar. Both need a good solid press to make them work.

just wanted to say, love your avatar! he's the best in arrested development

and for me, i have had one replacement since getting my blackberry in febuary and with any device i expect it really. you can't have a perfect and flawless device everytime. you're gonna get a cr@p one along the way. as long as the warantee/insurance covers it then i'm happy and the one i've had since my replacement had been perfect

On my 3rd 9900 and the keyboard has been solid on them all. Shame the speakers aren't as good.

I used to have a 8800 and that was the best keyboard ever. Felt so much softer than the 9900. Miss that device.

Had some problem with the y button on my 9900 too.Needed some serious hard press to work. But afraid to send it in for warranty as was told replacement will take 3-4 weeks.

I was told 3 - 4 weeks as well. I received a temporary phone (Curve 9300) during this time. I don't know if that's RIM policy for everyone under waranty or just businesses under waranty. I guess the best thing about having a different 'loaner' phone is you learn to appreciate the one you sent away. I miss the OS 7 experience (especially the browser), a sharper screen and definitely the Bold keyboard. That being said, I've done some research and may consider a Bold 9790 when we switch carriers. It's almost the same size as the Curve 9360, but with a smaller Bold keyboard, auto focus camera (YES!!! I could take pictures of documents again) and in theory, a better battery life then the Bold 9900. Since it's the same battery, but a smaller screen, slower processor it should give me a couple more hours a day i would think. And the size is perfect for my small hands.

From what I can see from the Poll results so far it is indicating that many people (first two poll answers combined at 75%) have had no issues with their Bold 9900 keyboard. That is great news! As for the rest of us, I am wondering if the design itself lends to the risk of debris getting under the keys and causing issues.

I own a Bold 9930 and it has the BEST keypad of any of my previous BlackBerry devices hands down. I haven't had any problems whatsoever with the 9930 keypad......knock on wood ( knocking ).

I have one and at least a dozen users have 9930s and have not seen or heard of any keyboard issues. Other than a failed touchscreen in one unit, we haven't seen any hardware issues

I think this problem happen because you type so hard, is like PC Keyboard, if you press keys hard you will broken it soon.

The keyboard use a sensitive chip; the humidity isn't friendly with the chips.

    I dont have any problem.

My first 9900 developed the "stuttering keyboard" problem after about 3 months, so I got a replacement device. The 2nd one has had no keyboard problems. Thus, I voted "multiple 9900s, some good, some not so good." But "one bad, one good" would be more accurate.
