Would really like to see this also
Bold 9000 have i best dual speakers with near perfect sound, so i don't think 9900 will sound better b/c only has one speaker, if it will sound like 9700 or better i'll be more then happy
The 9900 internal AND external speakers are far superior to the 97xx series. The internal speaker is more than loud enough where you do not need to push the volume past 75% under normal conditions. At full volume it does not distort and sounds great!
The external speaker has much better bass or richness than any of my last few RIM devices. I do not think "most" will have any complaints about the way it sounds.
Sorry but no video, not into video, just telling the truth.
Great hear. I want this phone so bad I feel silly lol. Was actually looking at flights to Canada lol.

External speaker on the 9900 better than the 9000? Didn't you have a 9000 as well?
Thanks for that info Gregg. I'll take your word for it. I know other folks are getting fed up with waiting, but I'm still excited to get a 9900. I'd much rather RIM get it right this time around and release a high quality device. I can wait it out. lol
Can someone point out where the speaker ports are on the 99XX device, looking at the pics on BlackBerry site, I dont seem to see the ports are. On the 9000 there were 3 ports, 1 on either side of the device, and then 1 on the top. But when the 97XX came out the speaker port is right above the camera & flash . When I'm listening to music, I like to have the device face up, but by doing this, the speaker is muffled by the surface on which you have the device on. On the 9000 I can leave the device face up and not get the muffled sound cuz the ports were on the side and top of the device.
I agree but he was asking about the 9000 not the 9700.. I still believe the 9000s stereo speaker setup sounded much more "full" vs the 9900s.. You could hear lows on the 9000 where-as the 9900 is just highs and mids.. Volume wise though the 9900 is much louder
Its located at the bottom of the phone but the port is pointing downward from the battery door instead of straight ahead like on the 9700 so placing the phone face up the sound still has a clear exit rather than bouncing off whatever surface your placing the phone on (if that makes any sense)

I wish the 9900/9930 had the stereo speakers of the 9000. The 9000's speakers sounded awesome, and they are still some of the best speakers ever put in a phone. The 9900's aren't bad, but they aren't nearly as good as the 9000's.
I second that. Listening to my good old 9000 vs my 9900 is like night and day. External stereo speakers and rich bass gave it among the best audio of any phone ever made.
I also felt the 9000 felt so much better and comfortable in my hand. They should have kept the same thickness which would give them more room for a bigger batter, camera, etc... Also not a fan of the hard angles of the 9900, but overall it is a much much better device. I'm one of those 9000 users who waited until there was a worthy blackberry replacement and yes folks, the 9900 is it!
What is the difference between the 9900 and the 9930 ????
The 9000 speakers can't be beat, but the 9000 was one of a kind. After checking out the 9930 in the store I realized I would need to re-adjust my expectations as the 9930 was more than functional but sound-wise, it will never be a 9000. The 9000 has a solidity all the other Blackberries don't have because of the front and rear being clamped down on the external frame. More solid equals more bass and less distortion. I assume the 9000 gave the people at RIM more room to work with. Speaker technology doesn't change that much, bigger is always better all things being equal. Another phone like the 9780 or a 9800 would make a better comparison.

rim probably fired the engineer who designed the original bold's dual stereo speakers.because all devices after it have featured mono speakers.i just don't understand why would a company want to downgrade instead of upgrade.i think rim will never feature dual speaker stereo system sound on any new device they come out with in the future.its a terrible strategy on their part.but i guess rim doesn't like creating perfect devices.they want to include a missing feature on a device.
I was wondering the same thing. Kind of disappointed that the 9900/30 speakers are not as good as the 9000. I love my 9000 speakers
PlayBook has dual speakers. And everything is a compromise. If they packed all the stuff in that everyone wanted, there would be a bunch of stuff YOU didn't want and the size does matter, to some degree.
From my experiences so far, the 9930 has close to the same volume level, but the sound quality is not as good as the 9000. I'll see if I can do a little demo vid later.
I'm one of those 9000 users too, but I'm still waiting for AT&T to release the 9900 officially. It's killing me :(.
for me im getting me a new device anyhow.i deserve it for my patience.it doesn't matter if it has no dual speakers.but i was just saying rim has yet to make a device with that stereospeaker bass sounds like the original bold.i think there are a very few smartphones out in the market that can compare to the clarity of bold's dual stereospeakers.anyways i can adjust to monospeaker.i don't need my phone to be an ipod.the only music i listen to is streaming through pandora but thats not always.email is my number one priority for my smartphone.
9930 is just okay on sound. My 4 yr old 9000 is is great sounding. But I love my 9930 so not a big deal.
