    Resently for the last month I have had an issue where a my device (Blackberry Bold 9900) Connected with BES through my email host provider ( Exchange 2010 )

    The problem is when I send an email with an attachment it goes out just fine user get the email and the correct attachment. When I go into my sent folder in outlook OWA or on the device the attachment name was changed to ATT0673485 it has never done this before and I am running out of ideas to try and fix it.

    Here are the troubleshooting steps I have done.

    1) Battery Pull
    2) Deleted and resent service books
    3) Remove IT Policy and reactivated Device
    4) Removed IT Policy, host move me to a different BES server and reactivated
    5) My host is not able to replicate on their devices that they have hooked up.

    Does anyone know what could be causing this? Or a way that I can fix this?

    Other devices on the same BES do not have this issue? Try removing the user from the BES, wiping the device, Re add the user, and reactivating the device. This ensures that nothing from previous activations stays and you start back with blank settings on both server and device.

    Also, anything changed on the device side? Any settings at all, any software updates? What about on BES?

    Hey Sith_Apprentice,

    I have tried all of these things no other users are having this issue on the BES server The device has not had a software update for several months before this problem occurred. We have removed the user from the BES server, wiped the device, reapplied the license to another BES server in the same network and the problem persists.

    Please let me know if you need anything else this is getting extremely frustrating.

    I wanted to post this I found out what the issue is. Sometime around July 15th a change happened to my device, when ever I would attach a file to an email that I sent from my Blackberry I was noticing in OWA (Exchange 2010) and Outlook 2011 the attachment name was changed to att*****.pdf or att******.jpg did not matter the type of file. Threw some digging with the support of my email provider they looked at the source code of the message. They noticed that the device is sending a line of code causing this issue. Here is a sample of one of the messages:

    -_002_95E8BF32A235604FBEFF0399EA317277E57707ORD2MBX 05Emex05ml_
    Content-Type: image/jpeg; name="IMG00002-20130904-1744.jpg"
    Content-Description: ATT90505.jpg
    Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="IMG00002-20130904-1744.jpg";
    size=236038; creation-date="Thu, 05 Sep 2013 19:30:19 GMT";
    modification-date="Thu, 05 Sep 2013 19:30:19 GMT"
    Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64

    It seems that OWA and Outlook 2011 are reading the line Content-Description: ATT90505.jpg instead of the filename. I am thinking of changing to the Q10 to see if this issue stays the same. The Email provider tried on 3 other Blackberry Devices and they are all doing the same behavior.

    This list of Devices is Blackberry Bold, Blackberry Torch, and the Blackberry Tour. I wanted to thank everyone who assisted in this. I also wanted to document what we found since I have not been able to find any documentation anywhere of this behavior.
