Don't know if this means much but I signed up for the updates and news on the Bold Touch and received one today. Could this be a pre-emptive strike at my wallet and my enthusiasm about a new Blackberry or just another infamous tease as we all have come to know and hate.

Anybody tell if the 9900/9930 has a left-side convenience key? That is one thing that RIM left off the Torch that bugged the heck out of me!!!

...that and pretty much everything else about it.

No left side key. There's a power down key on top. There's a right side convenience key for camera not sur if it's changeable. Also there are 3 keys for media on right for volume, mute, and shuffle etc. Check out video in my previous post.

this phone looks to be a nice little upgrade from my 8900 !! exciting times.
I'm hoping this will replace my 8900 too. 8900s don't go for much these days though, I reckon I'll be forking out for the upgrade.

the 9930 has everything the 9900 has but is missing one hdspa band, but adds cdma.

so unless you live in a country that uses that band, the 9930 would be better. In any case both phones can call on any gsm network.... the 9900 just cannot call on a cdma network.

    LOL. Read the specs again!

The 9900 screen resolution and camera are both FAR superior to the 9000

    EDIT:-

    Bold 9000 - Camera = 2MP, Screen Resolution = Half VGA 480x320
    Bold 9900 - Camera = 5MP, Screen Resolution = VGA 640x480, 287dpi

Sorry my bad, I knew the 900 cam was 2MP. I still with they could have done better especially with others doing 8MP+ cameras and better resolutions than that

Anything more than 5MP on a phone is a waste IMO.

Also, out of all the phones currently on the market, the 9900 screen resolution is only bettered by the iPhone 4.

The E6 has the same resolution, but on a slightly smaller screen... with half the processing power... and Symbian

The Nokia E series were great phones, awesome build quality (on my old E71), but the keyboards don't compare. They're way too cramped.

Anyone know what the exterior band is made of? Is it like my 9700 or will it be metal? I would love it to be metal...

It's brushed stainless steel this time, not cheap chrome painted plastic.

Only premium materials used on this baby

That's awesome!! I think they should always use that on their phones instead of the plastic. Sure it costs a bit more but it would show people they are wanting to be cheap. A little price to pay for the return I think they would get.

No, and it's not a current device.

Screen size means nothing when it comes to resolution... it's all about the pixel density

    iPhone 4 - 326 dpi
    Bold 9900 - 287 dpi
    HTC Sensation - 256 dpi

On I knew screen size wouldn't compare I guess it made it worse. I thought maybe the qHD display might be a bit better than the bolds.
