I bought a BB Bold 9930 yesterday and I just want to make sure I'm using the best OS version possible to make the battery last as long as possible.

The 467 that is currently on my phone does not have the battery saving mode while the 267 that is out there does. Should I downgrade to the 267 or leave it as it is?

    Thanks in advance.

I have 267 and I'm thinking about downgrading to 190, I got better battery on it. I'm not sure what the battery saver actually does.

    267 is for a 9900, right?

    267 and 163 are the only 7.1 OS's for 9930. 457 is 7.0... Upgrade to 267 or 163.

    Disregard all the above....

.457 is a package version which is .163.

Yeah, it's available for both. That's why I'm thinking about using 267 if the battery saving mode is that huge of a difference from where I am right now for the fact that 457 does not include it.

Ok Dustanh. I'll give it a try. Since I have been out of the loop of BB for almost two years can anyone point me to the exact how-to please?

Since you have the phone just yesterday i would say yes and update it.
If you already had the phone quite for some time and the current OS is working out good for you.
And you didn't need those 7.1features i would stay on it. Otherwise do the upgrade.
    It's up to you.

Remember... .267 is a leak, not official, some have had issues with it and .163 is official. So depending on how good you get around with these devices. Read them both up.

Battery saving mode is not going to give you incredible life... just help regulate.

Raptors post is in regard to the 9900. So don't go around looking for .190 if you have a 9930.

Battery saving mode isn't worth much IMO, but, it is a very nice OS.

I haven't noticed it doing much other than toggling mobile hotspot off and adjusting the backlight once it hits the level you set it to kick on.

For me .163 stunk. .257 wasn't much better. Rolled back to 7.0.0.374. None of them seem much better than the other for battery life. But I also use at least 200 minutes per day, so even with a car battery attached I'm probably not making it through a day on a single charge.

I have pretty much the same outcome on battery life across .374, .163, & .267. My usage is up and down everyday, so it's hard to really pinpoint the best one. For me, its the new features that keep from going backwards or sitting tight. I was hesitant to jump on .267 but I did it and am pleased so far.
