    Hello everybody,

I really like the Bold 9900 but i'm really concerned about what people says about the battery life.
I need a phone who can get me through the whole day (6:50 am ---> 11 pm).

Do you think I should buy this phone? Or get a Torch 9810? I heard it has good battery life.

Battery life not the greatest, os is really cool. Works as it should, as any smartphone should. If you use a lot of apps, battery drains very quickly. It is same on the 9810 too. Almost the same battery and they have the same processors.

actually people says that 9810 is much better than 9900 even though battery is almost the same...

Depending on your usage, you should be able to achieve that with the 9900.

I'm an 'average' user, and I can do that easily. I came off charge at 5:45am this morning, it's now 8.30pm and I've still got 74% left...

No offense, no way he would get anything close to that unless he left it off half the day

I go through about an email ever 2 minutes or so, when I'm remote I keep both batteries and that gets me through the day with a bit to spare. If my laptop is on, it will charge the second battery while I'm using my first (on a very, very long day)

    None taken.

It can easily be done, and my phone is NEVER off. Like I said, it all depends on usage... and a little knowhow

To be honest Phill, I am in the same boat as lCohen999. My battery fries itself at work when I am on the shop floor. The CF6 engine shop seems to be like a huge Faraday cage for my BB and the battery generates a lot of heat searching for signal. Stepping 6 feet in any direction gets me a signal so switching off isn't an option. I finish up carrying my BB and a dect phone.I have stopped using a lot of apps that use a lot of juice. Today, i took it off the nightstand dock at 5.50 am and after a couple of call before going in I was down to 96%. By mid morning I had to charge at work. At home it's fine.

I have heard a lot about a little know how making a difference, what I don't get is why I should have to take so much time and care over a phone battery. I will never understand why I can't get a signal in sections in the shop where I used to with an 8900 and where someone standing next to me gets a signal with a 3 year old Nokia....Extra batteries seems to be the answer......

I use the BB I have now for: Twitter, Facebook, BBM, TONS OF TXTs, a few calls, and some browsing...

If your engine shop is working like a Faraday cage and restricting your BB from obtaining a signal, then switch to 2G or it will forever be searching for a 3G signal and will drain your battery.

Should the auto setting for 2G&3G not take care of that? I had assumed that it would lock to the strongest signal?....I have tried the manual and 2G option before, I will try it on this build...may help..

Well I changed a few settings last night and gave the 9930 a full charge and as of 12 hours of calls and emailing my battery is at 55% after 12 hours with busing blue tooth in the Ford Explorer. Before the setting changes I would of had to charge the phone 2 times.

    Phill,

Would you mind detailing your set-up to achieve this?
What OS version are you using and what is the 'knowhow'.
I was doing quite well with 540 but then upgraded to 190 and I'm back to around 12 hours with low-ish usage.
    Appreciate your assistance.

ok... I was charging by bold 9900 2 times a day and even considered going back to my 9700, but now I'm down to once a day charge on heavy use. (Even could make though the day on light use)

    This is what I did, remove the following applications;

Remove all the Messagers (Yahoo, Microsoft, and Google)
Also remove the BB news application, but still have the Social feeds.

That's it!... now I'm getting double the battery life.

Hope this helps, will verify my findings again after the next leaked release.. .btw, currently running 7.1.0.190.
