    Hi guys.
I am currently using a galaxy s2 on straighttalk and sony xperia z3 as a wifi device. I used z3 as my main phone for short period of time, but I moved my sim card back to galaxy s2 because the z3 is too big to carry around.

I always wanted to own a blackberry, so Im considering replacing the galaxy s2 with a blackberry bold 9900.

    My questions is:
I use my galaxy s2 for calling, texting, emailing and mobile hotspot. Will these features work on a BB9900 on straighttalk? (Without BIS obviously).

    Thanks in advance

Things will not work without BIS, I'd suggest BlackBerry 10 devices.

You are wrong! Mobile hot spot works without BIS. I was using it for last 2 months! To email without BIS you need LogicMail - but it is not so easy like having BIS, but it's not a problem. Calling of course doesn't need BIS.

Unless, maybe it depends from Carrier in some countries, because I use it in Poland without BIS.

All this things I do on Bold 9900.

But if you want mobile hotspot in older BlackBerry than BlackBerry 10, remember - only BlackBerry 7.1 Smartphones has mobile hot spot - like - Bold 9900/9930, 9790, 9810, 9860, 9360, 9320, 9720 and their local edition.

Like I was said - the carrier may limited the mobile hotspot. Also I have heard from some users that can't use mobile hotspot via roaming in foreign country in BlackBerry Classic or BB10?

I'll second what Michniks said. Mobile hotspot works without BIS on Koodo Mobile in Canada.
