Most emerging OS in the market as of now, it is KaiOS undoubtedly.

So what do you think about bb 9900 and KaiOS combo?

It'd be cool, but no one will build it. Also, how would BlackBerry 'secure' it? You know there has to be a security story there.

It would be cool if anyone makes another PKB phone....

But you have ventured into make believe land....

How much does Android cost OEMs - that's really not an issue? Do you really seen an advantage for BlackBerry to try and secure KaiOS too?

Do you really think that a BlackBerry Secured KaiOS phone could sell for $50 like the Jio Phone 2? Not a chance....

Moot point, no? It would require one of BlackBerry opening up hardware from almost a decade ago, or some masochistic OEM to restart production, neither of which is likely.

I had to look it up. It is backed by Google too???? Smart move for Nokia to dump Microsoft's O/S.
    .

Still nervous with Google still being involved. Esp. after this story just hit.

Google invested $22 Million into the KaiOS Technologies, the ones behind the OS. What that means... who knows, but for that tiny company that was a huge investment. KaiOS does use some lightweight versions of Google Assistant, Maps, Mail and YouTube - along with a few other popular applications.

But KaiOS is a feature phone+ OS. An while almost 50 Million phones powered with the KaiOS have been sold... many of them cost less than $20. And that is the point, the OS will power very basic hardware. In some markets like India that is probable all a portion of the population needs.
