    OP,
You mentioned in this thread that the 9900 doesn't have the Battery life of the 9700.
I would agree with that. But then to expect that kind of battery life from the 9900 would be unreasonable. Processor, screen, etc.
I can understand your worries if you are a heavy user and a phone not lasting the whole day is an absolute pain.
The battery will always be a concern as phones get faster processors. That's why I'm not too impressed by the dual core and quad core phones in the pipelines.
a blazing fast phone is of no use if it is off.
RIM is being pulled into the specs game,it would be interesting to see if they can match specs and still keep their battery voodoo working.

Very good points. I cam from the 9700, and even my two year old battery (equally old phone) lasted longer than the 9900... Not much longer - but it was 2 years old... I can handle the way the battery is right now... But in 2 years it will be unbearable I'm sure, I guess an easy fix is just to buy a new battery after a year or so... My synopsis is this:
The 9900 battery is a little underpowered compared to what us heavy bb users are used to. But it is by no means terrible, and it certainly doesn't "suck" as some would suggest.

I have mine tethered to my playbook and it lasts all day if i take it off the charger in the morning..

It will last until the afternoon if i charge it in the evening..

It depends on how often you use your new toy

if someone actually does order this battery from newegg.com can they please report back and give a review of it, im a bit skeptical as to how the battery can have 1600mah compared to what the bold actually ships with yet be the same size. Shouldnt the battery be bigger? Eitherway some feedback would be great, also it says its for the 9930 but obviously that shouldnt make a difference im guessing lol.

Even if the battery last half a day it will still be better than the android os phones. I have several techs that work for me and there and rid os phones are constantly having to be charged. My 8900 can normally go the whole day and around 6 in the evening I have to put it to charge for a bit then when I go to bed it gets plugged up for a full charge. Original battery with phone was a bad battery they replaced it at tmobile with a new one after 1 month since it would not last 1 hr after that I never have had any issues with it. I am a major heavy user I see that I will run into some issues, sounds like that battery at new egg will end up on order.

Got mine on the 12th, have to say the battery life is un-impressive. A lot of my friends bought it as-well and complain of similar problems. Plus is it me or the phone just randomly freezes at times?

I def have pretty bad battery drainage. I have had the phone off charge since 4am and haven't used it a lot. No apps running in the background. I wiped the device and put on .296 yesterday. Have done a couple battery pulls yesterday. Phone has been off charge for 2 hrs, have full signal on H+ and have 89% left. Not good.

I'm very disappointed with battery life too, I have to charge two times a day and sometimes at work, My work Curve 8520 battery lasts longer!
Really tempted to order the 1600 mAh battery myself if the next OS update doesn't address the battery issue.

You complainers either got crap running in the background or have a defective device as my 9900 has run all day after 60+ emails and 2000 minutes a month talk and still have 40-50% left at the end of the day!

The majority of the 9900 users are NOT complaining about it's battery, just a few!

There is no way this NewEgg battery could be the same size and produce that much more power using the same chemistry. There are laws of physics involved here unless you want to believe in magic!

    You people know physics?

I havent installed a single 3rd party app and running .296. Would be happy if you provide me some tips which actually work.

My usage is BBM and Emails. For surfing I use iPad. I installed this Battery Optimiser and it has this graph of battery drainage... It looks like dow jones in bear market. My phone was charging till 9am(100%) and had only 30% remaining by 3PM...usage is same or less than 9700. (Coz i wanted to see if the usage is hurting the battery or is it just constantly dropping) I feel its just dropping no matter I use it or not !

Waiting for OS update seriously !

Might be more of a reception/tower issue.. there's a restaurant I go to regularly that drains the heck out of my iPhone battery, it will drain around 40% in 1 to 2 hours while I eat. I get about 1-2 bars there, so I'm guessing the phone has to work overdrive to keep that reception.

Other than a bad app, I'm guessing this is one of the reasons why so many of you are having terrible battery life.

all i have running in background is bum email social feeds which i fetch manually and the basic stuff no 3rd party apps that i leave running all day. i have 4-5 bars most of the day and I'm at 30% at 2:15 pm unplugged at 8 am with just texting and bbm no phone calls or emails and maybe 4 webpages. the battery isn't that great and i have 4 friends with the 9900 all same issue. yes it sucks compared to 9700 9780 but the device has beefed specs so you can expect it to be not as good. so hopefully updates can fix it to keep it on par with the 97xx series. as for now its not that great.
