Battery Saving Mode: More Useful Than We Think
I first thought Battery Saving Mode might be useless, with just an added convenience of adjusting the screen brightness for you at a specific time.
However, I see now that it actually lowers the brightness to make it even dimmer than 10%. This is something that I don't think was possible before. I wonder what else is going on with the device when the mode is enabled though, say underclocking the CPU behind the scenes and such. Anyways, I hope RIM continues to emphasize on PRACTICAL additions like this.
I'll definitely be enabling this feature on those long days when I want to get all the juice I can out of this thing! Features like this are why I stick with BlackBerry handsets.
Update: Ok, I did some testing, and what it actually does is ENABLE the "auto dimming" feature in the display settings, which can dim further down than 10%. So technically, this WAS possible before. But I think this will keep the screen down more rather than it fluctuating. I'm not 100% certain though.
