If anyone is still out there, check the white 9900 on the first floor. It runs 7.1.0.258 (had to type options, since the icon was not in the menu) and also saw the battery management option. If it drops below a %, you can tell your phone to spare the battery in some way

Wouldn't be possible to combine .cod's from latest leak for 9790 (7.1.0.247) and 9900 OS together to get this feature? I used to do that with 9700 and 9780 when a leak 9700 came out before 9780 and I wanted to have it

That would be almost like some sort of hybrid or something.

I tried a straight cod injection, and it didn't work. Looks like the blackberry.alx and/or sfi need editing in order to accept it. Too much like hard work!
If anyones intersted, the cod you require is net_rim_batterystretch
EDIT: just checked the modules on my 9790 and the Battery Saving Mode feature isn't a standalone app like BB Device Analyser is, it's actually integrated into the main system software.
I think it's great how there is a battery saving mode with OS 7.1. Even with the mode activated the OS 7.1 has amazing battery life compared to the 7.0.

Well that pretty much answers the question. Unless someone with knowledge of blackberry.alx file edits it, all we can do is wait for a leak to drop.
The file in question is a whopping 2 kb in size. Granted there probably isn't much to the "Battery Saving" capabilities, but based on that fact alone, I am reasonably confident that the actual features/mechanism of the battery save mode lies elsewhere in the OS. Very likely in the sfi file.
These leaks are a bit frustrating. I wonder when RIM will actually release this, and how long will it take. I'm also wondering is this going to be a classic RIM update which take 4 months before it is released while Android users laugh because they've had this forever.
