Still observing my 9900 after I updated to .503 last night. The phone's up for 10 hours since I unplugged it from the charger. The battery is at 66%, 3.4%/hour discharge rate, and still got 19hours left.

No calls made yet though, only social apps like Facebook, Twitter and BBM.

    Looking good so far.

I'd love to update to .503 from .261 if I could get past the backup process in App Loader. Anyone find a solution to the "Smart card options" backup issue?

Why not, manually back up your phone on DM first then run the update on App Loader after?

Because backup fails in DM too. Plus I'd like to keep all my apps without having to re-download them.

I never had issues before when I backup my files in DM. Only problem I encounter when updating the OS is, I have to re-enter my Activation Codes in all my 3rd party apps & their settings. But I never had to re-download them.

    i upgraded from .296.
.296 is my favourite so far, the battery life for me is just the same as on .503 and .296 allows you to touch the lower part of the screen above the trackpad which i like, but some people don't. I'm sticking with .503 because i can't be bothered to go back down to .296.

Exactly the same here. No benefits on battery life at all!! Think it's honestly just a myth.

.503 in fact is a little buggy-er.. e.g. when dialling a call and cancelling it immediately, you get this loud "BEEP" over the speakerphone that isn't there on .296... and the wifi/radio keeps dropping connections on .503 but i can't confirm if the later is directly related to .503 just yet. been on it for 3 days.

what are the sprint guys suggesting is the best? 503?

This is a 9900-only OS. Do not try to load to a 9930.

Wow, my 9900 is finally useable. As someone who travels extensively I was getting tired of my phone being dead come 3 in the afternoon and on Monday was literally at the point of throwing the phone away and switching devices, until I found this thread.

I am on Rogers and have never been able to get a full day, sometimes needing to charge 3 times/day! Monday I loaded .503, restored my phone from a backup using BDM, pulled the battery, rebooted and then charged it overnight. I haven't had to charge my phone since.

After a standard day of use yesterday, including about 70 mins on the phone and all day using data, and bluetooth I am still at about 50%. This truly is remarkable compared to what I have been seeing. I really wonder what they could have done to improve the life so dramatically? Over the past few years I have tried many different updates to different BB's and never seen an increase in battery life like this.

Yeah, the only app i installed was meterberry to monitor battery life but it was terrible.

.540 is way worse. I updated last night, battery was 100% at 11pm, when i woke up at 6am i was sitting at 7% (the battery was super hot) with 0 use.
Super hot battery is not a good sign. Do you have gps on? Try having nothing but bbm. Last time i had superhot battery was when my 9700 lcd was dying

we were getting 6-8 hrs before, so this 12-14hrs was a great improvement. It's actually refreshing to see people saying its suck to have 12hrs battery, compared to the *rap people say when getting 6hrs on previous OS

battery-life currently it's .503 or .540 they are kind of about the same.
it could work different for each individual, but past from experience they were pretty about the same.
Yes, since 503 then 540, now 7.1 battery life has more or less doubled. Talking about 7.1 it has so many wrong spelling in menu list that I wonder what other details are missing.. So far it's ok.

On bb menu, add folder is "add folde"
    On bbm, copy becomes cop

I changed the font size and its ok. Then i revert back to the font 8 i'm comfortable with and it is back to misspelings. Try changing to font 8. Im guessing its a bug in this version.
