This isn't about analyzing why I have an awesome battery life but just to share my joy with everyone of you that I am getting very good battery life.

A few days ago, my battery went pretty much dead on me. It goes from 60% to 0% within seconds so I bought a new replacement battery (LG-JM1).

Now, I been using the phone since 8:30am and its now 7:20pm and its 43% remaining. Usually, I would have about 20% remaining at this time of the day on average. So I am very happy

Another factor is the OS version. I am not usually one to worry so much about whether .xxx release has better battery life than .yyy-- yet it is very obvious the later builds of OS 7.1 have much better battery life than the original device OS releases. I can't help but think how much better the average opinion of the Bold 99xx phones would be if RIM had the software right out of the gate.

i'm very happy with my battery life as well, i get on average 18 hours before it's completely dead i had a 9900 with some wifi problems so i got a replacement and this new bold's battery life is much better than the old one, i only got 10 hours with that one and now 18 with the replacement im running .746 if that makes a difference

I have never had a battery life problem (6:30am to 11:30am easily), then again I came from an iPhone 3GS which was so bad (battery-wise) that you could watch the battery indicator tick down! There does seem to be some differences in battery quality, I have two batteries, a good one and a not so good one, both Blackberry JM1 batteries, both less than 6 months old, but the performance is different.

I take it you mean 11:30PM, because only 5 hours IS a battery life problem

I just upgraded to the latest from Verizon and notice little change. But I am a very heavy user on my Bold 9930 and I must admit, the battery life is a bit inconsistent. My active day is from about 6am to 10pm, unplugging my phone at about 6am when I wake up. One day I will get to 8pm and the next day I might only get to 5pm. Overall, the battery life isn't bad. It's pretty good actually (especially compared to the Droid Razr I had prior to the Bold), but it isn't great.
