    So my wife had a Verizon 9650 Bold that received water damage in August. We filed a claim and was told there were no current bolds in stock. Stated it would be a week or so. Meanwhile, i activated a dumb phone for her. This week, I got back on Asurion website and continued claim. They shipped out a brand new in the retail package Bold 9930. Was this a mistake? I asked a Verizon rep when I was reactivating the phone and he said they stopped carrying the Bold 9650. I hope this is true for Asurion as well because my wife is sure attached to her new phone already!

    It happens all the time. When the trackball went on my 9630 they didn't have anymore so I got a brand new 9650. Count yourself lucky. They can't take it back..lol Enjoy the new 9930.

    My aunts bold 9650 trackpad cracked in the middle, and doesn't work anymore. Do you think they'd give her the 9930

    If she has asurion start the claim process...it tells you what you'll be getting. By all accounts there are no more 9650's so she'll be getting a 9930.

    this is exactly what they did with my daughters 9630 and replaced it to 9650. She also thought it was a mistake

    They wouldnt downgrade you to the 9330. They would have to give you the same phone or better. In that case the best replacement would be the 9930 since they do not have any 9650's left.

    They are replacing 9650s with 9930s because they dont have any 9650s in stock. They can not replace a Bold 9650 with a Curve, no matter what the specs are, as they are not comparable devices. Also, an insurance claim will not affect your contract at all. Remember, this is why you pay $7 or so a month. You can not be punished just because they decide to stop carrying your device as long as you are paying that monthly charge.

    By the way, I know this because I just experienced this. I had my 9650 replaced with a 9930 and I am definitely still due for a new every two in October 21st.
