I'll say it right up front, if there's already a thread in existence similar to this, I apologize
But it's no mystery the 9900 and 9930 phones have had a fair share of bricking issues.

So I feel I must ask: Are there any apps that are known to be wary of?
Personally getting a 9930 from Verizon later this week, so as the saying goes; knowledge is power.

For anyone who replies, thank you in advance!

While an app can cause a BB to nuke (easily recoverable by re-loading the OS), I've never heard of one causing a brick.

You're best bet is to update to the latest OS available. Word is RIM has a "bricking" solution baked-in.

I noticed that both my 9930s and 9810 nuked while using Google Maps/Latitude.

I think the old Starbucks Mobile Card app (OS6, but 'worked' on OS7) was what bricked my first 9930 (verizon) on

Didn't reload that app when I got my replacement and haven't had a problem since.

I had a JVM error though, and I'm not 100% it was that app
