Well...we don't have much precedence on this one.

9780 users got shafted quite nicely. 9700 users at least got the upgrade to 6.0.

Point is, I hope RIM doesn't shaft us 7.x users like they did to others.

If Apple can support the 3GS (which, based on my use varies from mediocre to painfully slow with iOS 5) for this long then RIM shouldn't be too hard pressed to keep at least things like the 9900/9810 going for one more run.

Won't happen mate, sorry. RIM have already confirmed OS7 will be DOA once OS10 hits the streets.

    No upgrade path there.

The good news: prob won't hit for a couple of months or a year!

In the map, it shows it well into 2013 so don't worry, by that time it will be time to upgrade

I can only hope/pray/dream that RIM can come out with a Bold device for BB10.

i'm sure they will since the 9900 is their flagship, it wouldn't do them any good to leave that kind of model out.
just wait out for a while and let them do the job so we can haz our 9900 a like device shortly.
meanwhile enjoy your devices that you have now, they are still good. no biggie.

I have to say though that the keyboard is the main thing keeping me with blackberry. I cannot stand on screen keyboards

Nope. RIM does not have the resources to make it happen from all appearances anyhow. Not to mention their is a need for them to reduce the number of products they have to support and that devs have to customize for. This would just make all that more difficult.

1 - saying apple updated the 3GS isn't valid cause welll iphones OS are all relatively the same
2 - the 9780 got screwed? beside coding and a few minor settings... isn't all that much difference between os6 and OS7
3 - BB10 device are not gonna launch for at least a year... I don't know why people honestly expected earlier.
    4 - its a completely 100% different OS unlike os4,5,6 and 7.

people thought 1st quarter 2012 BB10 device were going to launch... they just released a new line up and doing so would be suicide. annoucing BB10 devices was a dumb move in the first place cause it causes people holding off.

Sure... We'll all get BB10 when you get a BB10 compatible device. Its only a year away. Have your really kept one device over the length of your contract? Not me. 4 different devices in 3 or 4 years. So when BB10 is released it will be time to change devices. Touch of the same old story: OS 5 to OS 6 to OS 7.

    Consider yourself SHAFTED!

There is no way the 10 will be running on any of todays RIM devices.

That's based on RIM's fiscal year, not our calendar year. Based on that map it's still set for later 2012.

Same here! 9930 is a life saver for me. My girlfriend is jealous of my 9930. Well, I should say was. I gave her my 9550 and she has slowly become a BB Addict like me (she was previously a dumbphone user).

    Not me, sadly....
Not good! Let me guess? Battery?
