I just activated my new Bold 9930 today and was disappointed to find that AIM software is not yet available. How could aIM not have been prepared for the new device and OS. Does anyone know when this may be recified. AOL projects 1-3 months. Is that possible?

Yah, I have the same issue, don't understand why this stopped being a default IM client? Yes it's outdated, but not dead >_>

I thought the same. We use it in the office as a more informal inter-office communication system (some people like gossiping!), and having it on my Storm was very useful when I was on the road (not while driving, obviously, that's very dangerous. tsk tsk). I saw Yahoo and Windows Live are both available, as is Skype, but no AIM. Hopefully it won't be 3 months before it's available, that would suck.

I got it on my device when I set up my @aim email account.

It didn't come stock with the phone like Windows Live, Google Chat and Yahoo IM did though.

They probably stopped developing it because the client had horrible lag, and aim and Gtalk are interoperable now. Google has a wizard that adds all your aim contacts to your Gtalk buddy list, and then you can use the Gtalk app to talk to them.

Even if they didn't have aim (which they do), you can add your aim contacts to your gtalk buddy list permanently and use as normal.
