Been thinking about the 9900's target market and I really believe that it will be primarily men. I got a 9900 on launch day but gave it up the second the 9700 came out. It was just too big for my hands.
I know that I'm small, but notice how the 9000 took up almost literally my entire hand. I think women might go more for the Torch.
How large is the 9000 or the 9900 in comparison to your hand?
I got big hands and I never had issues with previous BBs. With the 9930, it is perfect.
I'm 5-3", petite, and a chick and I love my 9900. I had the curves, they are a good size, I just left a 9650 bold and the thing was, not the width, but the thickness! The 9900 is way slimmer than the big fat 9650. Just my female opinion.

I just got the 9900 yesterday and love it but then again the size of it is not really an issue as I don't have petite hands what with being quite tall also. I don't care if it is targeted at men. I have never bought a pink phone and I have no intention ever do so :)
LOL!!!! NEVER bought a pink phone!!! but I would buy a burgundy Torch if they offered it.
Not sure if I'm informed perfectly well... but it seems that the height/width of the 9900 is about the same as the 9000 is.
But, it's not as thick as the 9000 is. So I assume the 9900 should be better suited to you?
(btw, you do have cute little hands... lol :D)
I am a tall woman, and I have large hands, and I always liked my 9650, but it felt too small in my hand. My new 9930 is absolutely perfect for me. I can see where someone with small hands might prefer a smaller phone.. I had take my phone into a local store because of an sd card issue. They had to send the phone back defective, so I'm back on my iphone 4 until Tuesday. I am already having withdrawal. The 9930 is so amazing, and it feels perfect where the iphone just feels small. This actually might prove your point now that I think about it!

I I could envy women with long fingers and large hands. I've got tiny ones....I could never type one handed on my 9900.
Don't get me wrong...I'll be getting one along with my Torch.
My lil cousin uses my old 9000. I gave her my wife's old 8220 flipBB to try. I thought it would suit her petite form better. She tried it for a few days then went back to her 9000. She is a texting/messaging demon and the surepress thing wasn't cutting it!
I have small hands but skinny little fingers so I don't think I'll have a problem with the Bold 9900. I felt like I missed the boat on the 9000 because I kept postponing the purchase. Can't wait for the release. Big is the new small. ;)

I'm a pretty big guy and my hands were too small for my 9700. I would always type 2 keys together and eventually I learned how to correct this problem, but the 9900 in my hands is absolute bliss. Never have a problem with the keyboard so far and the bigger form factor is just awesome!

I have small hands for a woman. I still have the 9000 and was using it until I got the 9900. The thinness of the 9900 makes a big difference. I do find the 9000 bulky for me. I had the 9700 and the size was perfect. But I would pick the 9900 over the 9700 hands down....pun intended. :p It's the best keyboard in the unniverse! Again, because it's so thin, you will not have any issues typing on the 9900 or holding it.
I liked my 9780, but it was too small of a keyboard. I never understood why RIM went so small with the QWERTY Bold.
I always like the 9000 form factor and the 9900 delivers an even better typing experience. It is the BEST keyboard phone out there.
To the OP; yes I think the form factor is more appealing to men... But, women will like it too.
EDIT: Yes, it's larger... but it doesn't feel very big to me.
I really wish I could compare the both of them before buying...but knowing me I'll just get both...

I had a 9000 before and didn't like it because it felt heavy, wide and thick. I then used a 9700 which was OK, and then the 9800 which was great but both had cramped keyboard. I am now using the 9900 and I.LOVE.IT!!! By the way, I am 5'3" with petite hands but the 9900 felt real good in my hands!

if you ask me,the torch is more feminine.its better for women with small hands.the bold just speaks masculine.the only bold that did speak feminine would be the 9700 series.but hey this logic can not be applied since the apple iphone is anonymity.there is no way of really telling if its masculine or feminine.

Both my gf and my mom fell in love with 9900 the first time they saw it.
Whether it is targeted at men or not I think my 9900 is A-Mazing! Besides I think I have made mine more feminine by adding a mirror screen protector. I will be specifically using this added feature purely for the purpose of lipstick application and hair fluffing :D
