Ok, maybe I'm just confused...but I had thought that the sooncoming BlackBerry 9900 was basically a combination of the awesome keypad size & design of the older 9000 Bold, with a multitouch screen.

But, lately I think I've heard that the device will be not much bigger than that of the 9700/9780...which will be a huge drag, IMO. I really think the 9700/9780 are both great devices...but I recently tried to go back to the 9700 after some quality time with the iPhone 4...and I sadly went back to the iP4 simply because after spending time on another device, the tiny screen and keypad was just a dealbreaker.

Is the 9900 going to be bigger hardware-wise than the 9700? I hope so. I really have a place in my heart for BlackBerry, and I'm just trying to justify coming back.

Even if its bigger than the 9700/9780, which I hear it will be roughly the same size as the 9000 which was slightly bigger than the 9700/9780, it wont be that much bigger

You were right the first time. It is the same height and width as the 9000, just a third slimmer.

Go here and compare it with the 9000 and any other phone you fancy and satisfy yourself.
