So I was messing around in the engineering screen looking for the cause of my light sensor not brightening, and my touch screen being unresponsive when the sun is out. I went to the OS Engineering>LightSensor, and I see a bunch of numbers. I later find out that these numbers dictate to the phone how much light is around the phone(or in front of the sensor). So my touch screen is fully functional until the numbers hit 65,000. That number is the direct sunlight, and basically prevents my touchscreen from being responsive. I've been encountering this issue for the last 3 OS leaks that were released(.267, .284, .342). My question to you guys is, could you try to recreate this on your phones, and hopefully we can get to the bottom of this, because this is DEFINITELY a software issue.

I can tell you that my touchscreen doesn't work properly in direct sunlight without having to see what the numbers say. It must be a hardware fault as it didnt happen before i upgraded to 7.1. But while i can use BB's most advanced features and troubleshoot to a certain extent, im not a programmer.

That would make it a software issue then.

Not noticed this myself, but I rarely use the touchscreen anyway.

i think it is an OS, software issue. i also find the touchscreen to be less responsive with sunlight, or if the temperature of the finger is very hot. i personally don't know but it feel like it some brightness or temperature issue.

some may say they don't have this issue or their phone is perfectly fine.. but i believe it is an OS issue as i have 2 bold 9900 and one with 7.0 and the other is 7.1, only the 7.1 has this issue that im aware of .

I reverted back to OS 7.0.0.205(stock os). I will go back into the engineering screen, and see what the numbers say tomorrow in direct sunlight. Maybe the OS increases the numbers or something.

Soooooo I went out in the sun, and put my phone's sensor directly in front of the sun, remember i'm on OS 7.0.0.250. The numbers increased to 65000, but my touchscreen/touchpad was fully functional with no problems(aside from the sun's glare in my eyes). I do not know what is causing my phone's touchscreen to not work on .267/.284/.342.

This section of the forum is dedicated to the 9900/9900 Blackberry Bold. And, the battery life should be the same.

Thanks, I installed it and that touch screen problem still exists but less than on previous OS I had
Maybe a battery pull would solve it ?
Its really irritating! And you meant 9900/9930
