That's a pretty cheap price compared to the previous outright Bolds Rogers released in the past, or am I mistaken?

If I lived in Canada, and was a BlackBerry kinda guy, I would easily take $549 over $249 and be stuck for three years. Three-year contracts sound absurd to me.

If AT&T releases the 9900 at $550 I'll likely buy it outright. Something tells me it will be more expensive at AT&T though, whenever it finally comes out.

I'm PLEASANTLY surprised about the buyout price. I thought it would be $599 or higher. Good on Rogers!

Love it. I thought it was going to be $649. Not sure why people would pay $250+tax and be stuck for 3 years. Contracts are fine for something, say, the iPhone, which retails for like $700.

It's branded and locked. That's probably the right outright price. I'd pay $50 more for unbranded and unlocked.

unlocking is $7 and the branding can be taken off with nailpolish remover easily if it is that offensive.

Rogers won't but there will be a slew of them on eBay who will.

I have a Friend flying back to Australia in 12 days.

but Rogers will not ship outside of Canada, you'd need to have someone buy it for you and ship it

Rogers hasn't physically branded the last few phones though. My Torch had no Rogers logo on it at all on the phone itself.

Unlocking is even cheaper on eBay, less than a buck and has always worked for me.

If you want an unbranded BlackBerry in Canada, go with Bell. My 9780 is Bell, unbranded and I'm on the Rogers network.

    So conflicted now.
I was set on finally renewing my contract.
But at $249.99 for a 3 year commitment; the phone itself is only $549.99!
Not much incentive to sign away 3 more years of my life.
Especially when the HTC EVO 3D or whatever is only $149.99!

If you look closely at the pic of the 9900 vs the other Torch models you see the Rogers branding on the bottom of it!

I went to check to say it wont even be branded, but the 9900 has a perfect spot, the Torch does not

$549 for that phone is damn cheap..... if at&t releases it, it would sure be on a useless contract with no value attached for the customer!!

All of the Rogers Bolds will come with the carrier name at the bottom of the phone, right?? I am currently with Wind mobile but plan to make the switch to Rogers once the new phones roll out. What's the quickest way to get rid of the carrier print without damaging the external appearance of the phone?? Also does anyone know if these phones will be available unbranded at places like wireless wave and such?? Thanks ahead for the replies.

The lads tell me fingernail polish remover. Could have knocked me over with a feather. I imagine new parts will be on eBay soon enough if it gets screwed up a bit.

As far as unlocking goes, there's word around that it's easy and cheap. Would the newer OS cause a potential problem with that though?
