    Is my brand new 9900 supposed to work when I get it?
    All is has is a small battery on the screen with a RED X on it and an hourglass spinning around. It's been plugged in for 2 hours now.

    Are you sure the battery is in correctly? If it is, the battery may be bad...there was another thread on this somewhere....

    Your battery is defective. This is a known issue that carriers are aware of.

    You'll have to get a new one from your carrier - just let them know you have the red X and they swap it.

    Sorry to say this is a defective battery. I had the exact same issue with my brand new Bold 9900. The supplier sent a new battery and that worked straight away.

    Alright, just got off the phone with Telus support. (They could not have been nicer) This is a KNOWN issue with the 9900. Spectacular! They are sending me another one today and a "mailer" to return the broken one.
