I've done an extensive search before posting this and there are varying issues that does not quite address this issue directly. I'm running 7.0.0.585 which is the official OS on my end, i tried 7.1.0.267 and the 9900 froze completely.

I've read about a few people saying their's was resolved after a hardware exchange and many also said it was resolved after an update. Some have also exchanged several units of hardware that had exactly the same issues, so right now its a little confusing, i usually search posts thoroughly and try all i can to see if i can sort this out before reaching out, after working all night to downgrade to the official OS and doing a wipe and setting up apps and data step by step it seems somewhat stable at times, but not exactly perfect.

So far it looks like it can be hardware or software related, can someone shed some real light on this?...Anyone???

It would be a real shame to have to drop this 9900, its such a good phone when it works!!

100% defintitely sure its a hardware issue. I've been upgrading the software everytime the new ones are released and to no success. Eventually I ordered a new trackpad and installed it and the problem was cured. I believe there is a layer of paint missing on the malfunctioning trackpads causing them to become over sensitive. Mine occured mostly in the sun but also in extremely low light conditions. Hope you find the solution

Ok this is for the benefit of those that have the same issues, this problem can be caused by either software or hardware issues as seen from various posts and other peoples experiences. In my case i have confirmed today that it must be hardware, i took it out in the sun and in started acting weird, when i put the face of the phone directly in the sun, it went crazy and stopped when i went back inside.
