This is from my refurb 9930 that I received from Sprint about a week ago. Each morning I would wake up to 99+ only to find out a few seconds later the phone to wind down to 92%. I am not sure if the battery from the old phone is trying to get used to the new phone or what as I never had this happen before.

After this 8% loss though, the battery does seem to last through the day with normal use.

Anyone have luck with replacement batteries? That has to be the one thing I loved about the extended battery on my Tour as it would last me 2-3 days of normal use.

This is a known bug in any OS of 54x and above. Stick to the leaked OS 7.1.0.205 or 7.1.0.190
Right now though it is running the latest .163

Yep, same on the vzw 9930 .163. It's very annoying. No way around it.

I agree that the battery indicator is more accurate with OS7.1

Same thing here on my Sprint 9930 with latest official update. Quite frustrating. Hopefully, they come it with a fix soon...Wouldn't hold my breathe until long after Playbook OS 2 comes out.

Today, I went from 99+ to 81% in less than two hours. Wowza. The crappy battery life issues with the 9930 are very very real.

I let my battery drain until the phone completely shut off and it hasn't done it since. Give that a try.

Ok...here's the thing. I use two batteries for my blackberry, and I've found some interesting things since I've been doing that. Here's what I do: I use one battery until it goes down below 20%. At that time, I put a fresh battery in and charge the other one externally. And this way, I go back and forth...been doing that now for a couple of weeks. What's interesting is that I'm consistently getting more than 24 hours on a single battery...even on heavy use days during the week. Like the OP, I notice there will be a large drop from 99+ (meterberry) to 90 or even 85 within the first 90 minutes. This I think is normal. But since I always have a fresh battery on standby, I'm not in panic mode when the power drops into the 30's. And the phone will go for a surprisingly long time in those levels! When all is said and done, I'm looking at 2.x%/hour discharge rates. I would not put much stock in how the phone measures the drop in the charge. It seems to move wildly around...and I think it's because of the relationship between the battery size and the amount of power this phone can consume. On thing you know the program won't do is let the charge percentage go back up after using a lot of power...so it will probably stabilize for a long time while the drain catches up to the percentage displayed. Hope this made sense to you....

Yeah, but your drop to 85/90 within 90 minutes isn't the issue here. What's happening is within several minutes of unplugging, the battery instantly drops from 100 to 92. Will never see 93, 94,95 etc. That's an OS bug.

check the time when it drops. i think ur screen just 'froze' and refreshes. mine does that except my time also jumps (From the time i last touched it to the correct time) .

No its definitely an OS bug from what I can see. It is strange though as it levels out during the day. For example normal use of the phone when I get home from work is around 50%. Normal use of the phone with this new drop I am getting is still 50% when I get home from work. In other words I am still getting the same usage either way even though I start the day with my phone dropping from 100 to 86 in a matter of minutes.

    Strange...

Only in 7.1.0.163 for the 9930. It's fixed in .190 and .205 for the 9900.

I've posted this before but my 9930 always, always drops from 100 to 90 with in the first 30 minutes or if I do one thing on the phone. I'm running official Verizon 7.1 and I know other have dropoed to 90 as well but most of you guys drop to 92. I wonder why the some drop to 92 while others 90? Thats wierd I would be more comfortable if I was in the 92 club.

I think .163 is messing with my Score Mobile as well as it freezes the phone when I try and check scores. Any fixes in sight for the 9930 yet?

You will only see 92% displayed if you use a 3rd party battery monitoring app like MeterBerry.

The device by default only displays battery life in 5% multiples, so 92% would automatically be rounded down to display 90%.

It would help to use an external charger, as sometimes the supplied chargers prematurely tell the device it's charged when it isn't fully. In my case, it was only 50% charged. lol

PS. Plenty on ebay in the $2-$10 range that are universal (ie. you can move the sliders to match the contact positions). I chose to bend the pins of my 9000/9700 charger to the left by 1 mm and it works just fine. But you must be careful when doing so.

163 has an OS bug. For sure.
the Device analyzer skips from 100 to 92 every time for alot of people. (All people with .163)

    Just to confirm...

    The 100% - 92% battery drop is a bug/glitch in OS versions .576 .579 .585 .590 and .598 for the 9900, and 7.1.0.163 for the 9930.

If you're running one of those OS builds, you have it, and there is no 'fix'

It is not present in 7.1.0.190 or 7.1.0.205 for the 9900.

It did happen a few times in 7.1.0.190. I am currently using that version right now. Ever since using the external charger, it has vanished. Quite strange if I should say so. I guess not many are used to battery swapping.
