Ok, just for my sanity and OCD, is everyone, almost everyone, having the same issue with the sudden battery level drop since the OS update? I have tried everything I can think of or find on the forums. I am not sure if it is just Verizon 9930 owners, or certain apps. Thought it might be Meterberry, but it's not. I know I've had this issue before, I think with a charging dock or something. But there does not seem to be any pattern that I can see.

So my ask would be, are you having the issue? And either way, are you using Sprint or Verizon? And if Sprint, did you do the OTA? Only other thing I can think of would be the 2 vendor.xml files issue.

Otherwise, maybe it is just something to live with until the next update.

    Thanks for your thoughts.

This phenomenon also affected the 9900 when the latest .585 OS came out.

Somewhat bizarrely if you swapped the .585 radio file for the radio from .540 or .503 the issue went away !!!

This is not anecdotal but from personal experience.

Not sure if there is a similar file swap you can do with the 9930, but I'm sure that someone out there will know.

I'm recently started having the same issue after upgrading to .585 (9900). Trying hard to ignore it, but it drives me crazy also.

Yes guys, I am having the same issue with my device. After I upgraded to 7.1 I see a significant changes on my battery life. For a start it tooked me 2 hours to upgrade it. I hope they would fix this issue.

I noticed today I dropped 20% in 2 hrs and barely touched my phone. I also didn't know there was 2 XML files. Maybe that's why I had the missing OS error at first. But all I did was keep unpluggin/pluggin till it loaded lol. RIM knew how bad the battery life would be that's why the included chargers are soo small and compact. Love the phone but I may stop buying phones as soon as they release

9930 on VZW. Deleted both vendor.xml files. I'm seeing the drop to 92% within 15 minutes, then great battery life after that (~2% per hour).

For fun () I just wiped my 9930 and did a fresh install of 7.1 (after shrinking, of course). I'm in the process of charging it to 100% then I'll see if it does the drop. I have not installed any apps at this point (I normally run MeterBerry). Back in an hour.

I'm also having this problem. I'm using a Sprint 9930, I updated through DM. I don't have MeterBerry. I was going to give it a few more days before trying to reload the OS.

At about the 55 minute mark my battery dropped to 90%. I've been using MeterBerry for so long I have no idea how often the standard battery status updates and/or if it only shows increments of 10%. So it's feasible it dropped to 92% right away and when it dropped the other 2% the status updated to 90%. Hmmmm.

But I don't feel like more tests to figur eall this out, so I'm just gonna reload EVERYTHING!

Thanks for testing. The drop to 90% after 55 minutes would be in line with a drop to 92% after 15 minutes or so and then a typical 1-2% drop per half hour.

I looked at my battery logs today and noticed something interesting. After a reboot, my battery percentage actually went up 5%. There's definitely something strange going on. The next test is to do a reboot right after the drop from 99+ to 92% and see if it goes back up to 99.

Happened to me as well with BatteryWatch. Ended up downgrading back to 7.0.0.374.

I am thinking about going back to 7.0.0.374, also...have actually downloaded and run the exe and started the process, but I keep cancelling just after it tells me the changes that will be made and the apps that will be downgraded. Trying to decide whether 7.1 really adds anything...I hate to concede defeat.

Was the downgrade pretty seemless? And did it seem to get rid of this issue?

My downgrade (via apploader) was just like doing an upgrade, and returned my VZW 9930 to the excellent battery life I had prior to upgrading to 7.1.

I wonder if anyone who is not running either MeterBerry or BatteyWatch has experienced this phenomena? If not, maybe those apps don't place nicely with 7.1. Just a thought.

My 9810 on .585 was doing the 99+ immediately 92% in less than thirty minutes. MeterBerry on that phone. I just switched back to my 9900, no MeterBerry on this one, 7.1.0.74, battery normal drop using the Six Tools icon. Weird, before .585, the 9810 read correctly using MB.

Yea! I thought I was the only one with this issue, I'm using the VZW 9930 on GSM, with the 7.1 Sprint leak.

I would leave my phone for 20 or so minutes, after a few bbms and emails, from a 100% and I would come back to find it at 95% which is ridiculous, it was never like that!

I updated through DM without a hitch, deleted the XML files etc...I thought I was the only one having this issue, wish I can get MeterBerry...

I was one of the first sprint OTA for 7.1 and do not run Meterberry and the 99+ to 92 happens every morning after overnight charge. I went through and checked all the battery savings settings I had before (no autoupdating by apps, IEXV, 10 backlight, etc) and battery drain is much faster. 12 hours later I am usually at 60% with WiFi all day but now at 42%. So just now I pulled the battery and it came back at 25%, not higher as noted by a previous post. I checked appswitcher right away and exited drivesafely and noticed that NFC icon was there, then it disappeared on immediate recheck. Took a screenshot of 6tools event log but not sure what I'm looking at with it noting Error. Would be nice to see if Error appears from 99+ down to 92 Throwing it on the charger now and will review log later. There are several errors in the event log at reboot such as not finding unifiedwebservices many times over and other errors after a boot> Perhaps someone else who knows the boot routine can find if one of these errors approximates the drop to 92?

I'm thinking this build does not actually charge the JM-1 to 100% and instead thinks that a full charge is 93% of 1230mAh (1143mAh) and stops charging at that point because I believe that on the flip side, watch it charge and it will skip from 92% to 100%

If someone had two 9930s they could test; one with 7.0 one with 7.1, charge the 7.0 unit's battery to 100% then place it into the 7.1 to see if the immediadrop occurs.
