7.0.0.576 for the At&t BOLD 9900.. Anyone using this?

- When it comes to leaked OS or other wireless carrier OS, I would tend to agree even though the downside risk is minimal. AT&T takes so long to test their OS releases that I don't hesitate to update. It looks like they have been testin since at least October 2011. Considering that the stock OS version was .440 then .576 should have a few bug fixes making it worth the update. However, to each his own.12-25-11 03:26 PMLike 0

- I have had a 9900 for about a week, dont know the OS version it came with, but a couple of days ago when I backed it up, there was an update notice, its version 7.0.0.576.
It seems the battery drains just as fast with .756 as with the version it came with.
But I have not had any problems with the OS so far and I like the 9900 a lot.
I am new to Crackberry. The excellent knowledge and insights about the 9900 OS and Blackberry ownership I have found on Crackberry make Crackberry.com the best "version upgrade" for the 9900.Last edited by ViaCassian; 12-26-11 at 11:40 AM.
12-26-11 11:37 AMLike 0 - Well I've been running this build for a few days and so far it is much better than .440. Granted everyone has a different experience, but with .440 I was having freezing probs and horrible battery life. Like 8 hours at best.
It's taken .576 a few batt pulls to stabilize, but other than the 99-92 bug I'm getting 3-4 times the batt life.. no joke. I can now go a couple days with average use, which I never even got close to with .440. Hopefully it will keep improving, if so I'll prob keep this build until the official 7.1 drops.
I'll post a battery log graph when I get back to my comp.12-27-11 11:34 AMLike 0 -
- I installed the .576 using the desktop manager earlier this evening. I don't know the first thing about it, except that one said .440 and this one says .576 I'll say this, though...I was extraordinarily patient with the install on this. There was a couple of times where the phone was taking forever to reboot...also during downloads...where I thought everything had just locked up. But I stood firm and did not press any buttons or fool around. I'm glad I did, because eventually it finished. I think the whole process took longer than an hour...and then my phone took another 40 minutes to read/load my 17 gigs of music and video. Now everything seems back to normal. Will update if I notice any differences from the 440.12-27-11 08:11 PMLike 0

Going to keep this until an official 7.1 drops which will hopfully be soon lol I much prefer the official updates to the leaks though are exactly the same its just easier to install an official OS lol12-27-11 08:57 PMLike 0 - I now get exactly the same battery life (excellent) with 576 as I got with 440. I don't think it's the OS version. I think there is some jacked up, buggy thing about BBOS that makes it prone to load fails.12-27-11 11:25 PMLike 0
- It ain't working on my Macbook Pro...computer loses connection to device right after backing up applications.
Is it worth going through the trouble of borrowing a PC to install?12-30-11 09:38 AMLike 0 - Well this is definitely going to be my OS until a better 7.1 drops. My 9900 shipped with .440 (like all at&t, I think) and the battery life was dreadful.. like 8 hours with barely any use. Well I took the plunge when I saw the .576 update through desktop manager, and after a few days, it blows .440 away.
Now I realize that everyone's experiences are different, but I installed it, reloaded all the same apps, and continued using it the same exact way. I am now going on 24 hours and have just reached 40%, with average use. Wifi, bluetooth, 24hr bridge, browsing and some calling & texting.
I am so thankful that something fixed this issue for me, because as much as I love the 9900, if I can't make it through the day with a Blackberry, it's time to start using my SGS2 full time. BTW attached is a graph showing my battery stats..
ALSO.. It does have the 99+ to 92% bug for me, but I can deal with that for a two-day battery lifeLast edited by zoso2; 12-30-11 at 10:01 AM. Reason: added info

Strangely though I did have one reboot on .440. Just goes to show how different people's experiences can be with the same rom.12-30-11 01:21 PMLike 0

- I've heard a lot of people are happy with .440 but I definitely wasn't one of them.. In addition to the battery life tripling , I've also barely seen the hourglass spinning, and my bridge browser is consistently getting over 1Mbps with my at&t "4G" connection.
All in all I really love it, but as always, YMMV. The only two bugs i've found so far are the 99-92% battery drop when unplugged, and when I have it set to automatically open messages out of the holster, it occasionally creates a blank draft for no reason.12-30-11 02:19 PMLike 0
