the phone was just released so it's probably not going to change very soon. maybe in ~6months when the QNX phones start coming out it may drop a bit....

    just a guess...

I paid $600 for my 9900 on Bell, as I'm only half way through my contract. But I sold my 9700 for $200, and will sell my 9900 for $300 when I buy a new QNX phone in a year. So the cost for me of having the best BB ever and enjoying it for a year is only $100...very small price to pay!

When the QNX phones come out my contract will be up and I'll be able to get the new QNX goodness for about $150-$200 at most I imagine. Life is too short to not have a great phone in your pocket, you use it every day, it's worth splurging on.

Because the 9900 you can use on almost any network in the world. ....the 9930 is limited (will work on other networks but works to it's full potential on CDMA networks).

Bought a 9900 unsub'd for 762.00 (unlocked, unbranded, no splash, forget the OS though) taxes included. Sold my 9780 for 225.00. Pretty happy. I am already eligible for an upgrade (which they offered)

Funny side story. I got a call from a Bell employee, she was offering me an upgrade to the new 9900. $169.00 (sign my life away for 3-years) $45/month for 1GB(What am I going to do with 1 GB!?), unlimited this and that (crappy plan compared to my legacy one, and I would be good to go. I explained that I was talking to her on a 9900 and have been using it for a few days. She seemed a little surprised and said that according to their records I was using a 9780. She asked if I was receiving full service. I said yes, I have H+, all my BIS services enabled and everything was groovy.

So she asks me again. A 9900? Yes, a 9900, thin, touchscreen, full keyboard? I have one, I am talking to you right now on the phone. She asked me how I transferred over my BIS service. I said that I called the BIS Technical Support number that I found on Bell's BIS web portal. She asked if she place me on hold. I said no. She called me! Put me on hold? wtf...LoL I said she could call me back if she felt the need. They never called back.

I figure I can hold off with this beauty and wait to renew a contract whenever this QNX based handset comes out. Unless they still have that magical 1GB barrier, may be time to go with another carrier.

going from experience and I have a lot of it with android and bb, it will be 300-400 in 2 months time. (at least on columbus craigslist) this differs by location and i have noticed it seems to be around 50$ cheaper there for whatever reason. I just moved to cali and craigslist phones are a little more expensive here =\

Actually the 9930 is a CDMA phone. No 3G with CDMA.

Check your facts. Verizon is definitely 3G, and if you're referring to the GSM side it is definitely 3G capabale- just not in the US/Canada.

I just wish they would have routed calls on the Verizon version through EVDO where available like the Thunderbolt does. For all of that phone's failings, I like how HTC handled calls. Even when nowhere near a 4g market you can still talk and surf. Actually, I'm not sure why more manufacturers aren't doing that.

It's gone up to $599.99 on rogers.com, so that $549 is SOL

I guess being an early adopter is a good thing Still, if I recall, the 9780 and 9800 were stuck at $599/$629 for a while before the 9900 was even announced. I wouldn't expect the 9900 to drop in price any time soon.

You have to actually stick an entire extra antenna in the device to do this...
