Ok all the specs I've seen tell me there is supposed to be 8GB of internal media storage...can anyone tell me why my new 9900 shows 6.2GB total and 6.0 free??????

Os and features prob require space to.
I know its a let down but what can yu do.
6.2GB is the available storgae. The rest is taken up by the OS and app storage.
Well I thought that was what application storage was for. I'm not sure what the point would be of dedicated media storage in that case.

there is 768mb app storage and 8gb internal media storage. this includes all those demo videos, visuals, wallpapers, music, ringtones. basically anything that is not an application but requires media is stored on the internal memory. makes for more app space and better functionality.
if you delete some languages + preloaded apps you dont need, you will probably have about 220mb left for apps
now it doesnt seem that much, but it will be enough, dont worry, most BB apps are about 1MB-3MB, so really, its enough ! : )
i have formatted the internal storage. so far, no issue in running the device. therefore, i dont think there are any important system files being stored there.
8gb should be 8gb i dont think the os is stored on there or any apps because they are stored on the 768mb (or what ever it is) so i don't understand why there is 6.2 or 6.0 and how can they advertise it as 8gb wouldn't that be a lie?
This is the same when you go and buy a 500 gb hard drive for your computer, you never expect to actually get 500gb of usage, you will really get like 450. Formatting and the data tables take up some space too
