Red glow is only for email and missed calls at this point. (works for text messages too if your txts are integrated with you messages)

You can't change the live banner color. It's animated. It does move.
When you get emails/missed calls notifications etc, the live banner will show red/greenish.

No noticeable battery drain... unless you just sit there and stare at your homescreen. But then again you'd drain your battery just by keeping your homescreen on.

One thing I don't like is the blue outline on the menus. But I can deal.

Do a reboot or something. It does show up.... it's not the theme that's messing with your WhatsApp icon

You're still on that early build of 7.1 aren't you? Maybe everyone else is on 9930/7.1.0.267? (I installed WhatsApp and had same issue)

My WhatsApp icon doesn't get the red notification icon when i get a message apart from that it's there and it works. OS 7.1.0.267

You notice on the Tiny Meter icon, the progress bars doesnt change. It looks like a pic of the icon. Also, it doesn't play well with The Weather Network, get errors.
