A week ago i had the dead white screen on my bold 9780. I gave up trying to fix it. The 9780 was the best BB i ever had and i was thinking about to get a new one. Im a heavy user and a fan of BB old style , I still not believe on BB10 and i hope that the new Classic will change my mind. Well, for now i decided that i still need an old style but i was tired of 9780. I love it, but it have been almost 3 years now looking at it. I just needed a new model, just to satisfy my anxiety for novelty. Previously I had the BB 9900 but i had a bad experience with it, short battery, low 3G signal compared to 9700 or 9780 and a size that was not the best to grip in my hands altought the keyboard was superb. The 9790, a natural upgrade for 9780, has a 1230 maH battery with an useless touchscreen (that put my favorite PI manager app : Pocket Informant , in a strange display format , with touck keys in the screen that are useless and i cannot change it). So finally i was looking at an old style that was still been sold for US$50 at NEXTEL-Brasil that captured my attention : the Curve 9620. Of course is not fair to compare a Curve with a bold, but it really have some attractive features at a very low price :
1- It has the BBos7 wich is really good, fast (compared to os6) and have some improvements like the message center in the home screen that give you messages , calendar and notifications at one place. The processor is a Qualcomm 1.2 ghz compared to the 624 mhz 9780 processor, and you feel it, plus you have a 768mb RAM+2GBemmc x 512mb RAM+256mb on 9780.
2- the keyboard is not so beauty and do not have the same touch feeling compared to the BOLD series, but it is still a BB keyboard and have some nice features : the keys are separated each other with an extra space that we doesnt have in BOLD keyboard wich is good for fat fingers and big hands, plus we have i nice click sound that helps typing.
3- the battery is still an 1450 maH , no battery charge or change during a busy day
4- nice office (spreadsheet mainly) improvements on OS7

I still love and would rate the BB 9780 as one of the best BB ever, but for those who are looking for novelty and are still waiting for BB ressurection on the new BB10 models (hope that Classic will be the one) and wanna get an unexpensive option for awhile, i would recommend some Curve OS7 model. I know that the 9620 is not an worldwide model, but we have other similar options for good prices (9630)

Yes, but the 9790 has a 1230 mah battery wich may not be sufficient for a full day and i dont see any advantage on its touch screen , it has not the size for a touch device and i think it will only be a disturb. I dont know the 9720 device. Now im using the curve for a week, although the keyboard is not so beauty as the bold series im really liking it because of the distance between the keys and the "click" sound. Im having the same confort and efficiency typing on Curve.Im Liking the OS7 too, fast and beauty, compared to OS6. The Hot-Spot function (BB as a router) is very useful and im feeling good to know that it is not an expensive device. If i lost or break it, i can get a new one for $50....

Yes, exactly, its the Curve 9620, Nextel exclusive. Im liking it very much, even the keyboard that i thought would be inferior compared to bold im very satisfied. One important aspect is the multitask (alt+back ou BBkey) that is significantly fast compared to 9780 (i use it a lot, and a dont feel that small lag multitasking)

    Hi Aluizio!

Can you help me with my 9620. I can navigate, but I can't configure an email or BBID. My operator is Vivo.

    Thanks,
    Leo
