I'm choosing between a 9000 and a 9700. I have read that the theme and app capabilities on the 9700 are worse than the 9000. This makes no sense to me. I have also read that the 9700 is significantly faster than the 9000. This also makes no sense to me since they have same hardware and OS 5.0.

Can someone clear this up for me please?

    Thank you.

The theme capability is exactly the same. No idea where contrary info came from but
it is dead wrong if it says otherwise.

The 9700 is slightly faster. The 9700 comes with OS 5 out of the box. The 9000
comes with OS 4.6 but can easily (reasonably) be upgraded to OS 5.

the 9700 has a better camera, more app space, faster processor, and battery like to kill for...

I've heard the processors are the same. I also know the batteries are exactly the same, but the 9700 is supposed to be more efficient. The 9000 has a slightly larger screen, but the resolutions are about the same. I personally prefer the keyboard on the 9000, but both are wonderful. The 9700 does have more internal memory, but unless you have hundreds of apps, the 9000 should have plenty of internal memory. Also, IMO, the track pad on the 9700 is way better than the track ball on the 9000.

The 9700 is the newest and greatest option on AT&T, I'd recommend going that way.

I PREFER the 9000 over the 9700. I have both. Both have the same processor, same battery. The 9700 has incremental upgrades (slightly better res screen, better camera, more efficient radio which translates to better battery life). But the SIZE of the 9000 is my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE. I've been tempted numerous times to just toss this 9700 out and use my 9000.

Getting back to your question: They're both the same, essentially. All BB have pretty much the same capabilities for themes, some need different resolutions and that's about it I think. I could be wrong, but all cool themes that support OS 5 are on ALL devices (8900, 9100, 9000, 95x00, 9700, etc)
