Yesterday I stopped by best buy to get a free 9700 w a 2 year contract and noticed the device info/price tag was flipped over. When I asked the salesperson for a bold I was told they are out and AT&T is discontinuing it this christmas season. They were unable to find one at the surrounding stores
Its unfortunate and I hope the information I was given is incorrect. Btw, the htc aria was also on the list..good riddance

Discontinuing? I highly doubt that.. AT&T still carries the Bold 9000. More like out of stock.. If they do discontinue it, it would only be because they're bringing in the 9780.

Very true, I noticed the 9000 is still on the att site. The 9700 is still popular. Guess I'll be paying 200 for the 9780.

Has anyone heard when AT&T is going to release the 9780s? I have checked AT&T customer service, AT&T sales reps, and even a Best Buy mobile expert.. and nobody seems to know anything. Personally, I think AT&T dropped the ball on this one because I bet they would have sold a fair amount of 9780s over the holiday season.

I highly doubt AT&T would discontinue the 9700 this early

I am wondering, that is taking AT&T so much time to release the 9780?

Are they trying to push the sales of other phones?

I notice many are pissed off about that.

I have a sneaky suspicion that AT&T is waiting until early 1Q of 2011 to not cannibalize the sales of the Torch. I have a Bold 9000 that is running out of space.. and would certainly purchase a 9780 over a Torch.
