I have the curve 8900 and I have a bold 9700 that I can keep or sell. I don't know whether or not to stick with the 8900 which I feel has a better looking finish or upgrade to the 9700

I had the 8900 and got the 9700. It's a nice upgrade but not totally essential...memory is a lot better...everything is just snappier in general.

    But it's up to you.

completely subjective... for someone looking for value and doesn't need 3G or doesn't have 3G coverage in their area... the 9700 is NOT better...

the keyboard - some prefer the curve style keyboard, some prefer the Bold style...

screen - they have the same screen

WiFi & UMA - both have it

I personally prefer the 9700 because of 3G and the keyboard... plus higher capacity battery (needed for 3G anyways)...

    YMMV...

All preferences I'd say, I went with the 9700 despite preferring the Curve style keyboard initially. we'll see if i get used to it in the long run.

I really liked the 8900 but I've always like the Bold keyboard a lot better so upgrading to the 9700 was a nice change. 3G was also a very nice addition. But its entirely subjective which BB is better for u personally.

I agree that the 9700 is the best yet. But that being said, the 8900 is a pretty darn good phone. If I were in your position right at the moment, I'd hold out a little longer and see what comes out next.

Yes, I recently switched from the 8900 to the 9700. Having the pad and no more trackball is my favorite component on the 9700. Also, the 3G service and battery life is way better. Go for it!

    9700 is upgrade with
    + battery ( mine almost 3 days in 9700 and 1.5 days in 8900)
+ trackPad (trackball in 8900 is fine, but trackpad is good option)
    + good keypad in 9700
++ 9700 will get OS6 upgrade. (May be OS6 will come to 8900 later or never)

    Rest no difference

Trust me, as a previous 8900 user who still thinks it's a great phone the 9700
    blows it away.

Jesus, does NO ONE understand that trying to squeeze 1.5 - 3 days out of a
battery is the fastest way to degrade it to the point of being useless.

Li-Ion batteries are meant and designed to be charged regularly (topped off)

I'm looking at your situation in terms of you have the money to get the 9700 if you want....

So I'm guessing you love your Blackberry 8900, the form factor being the main thing (just a guess since specs are something that doesn't seem to make you want to jump to the next device). If you can get used to the keyboard of the 9700 then you will love this phone. Spec wise its superior, and its just as pocketable and convenient as your 8900.

I agree. The 9700 is the next logical step for an 8900 owner. Brandon's comment about the 9700 keyboard is correct.

I thought the 9700 keyboard was really weird when I first got the phone but now I love it.

i had 8900,9000,9700.. if you get good 3g coverage then i would stick with the 9700, if your only getting EDGE then 8900 would be good two.. i mean if web surfing is one of the things you do alot then 3g berry would be better, if your using your phone for bbm, sms, phone calls etc then EDGE berries would be good too
